Farewell to the "Killer"

I was saddened to hear of the passing of HOFer Harmon Killebrew today. He was a true gentleman and one of our great ambassadors for baseball. I was fortunate enough to meet him at a card show many years ago and, although I do not collect autographs, could not resist having him sign an old Dell Baseball magazine. We also chatted for a few minutes and I asked him what he thought about the caliber of pitching at that time compared to his playing days. His reply was "If I could run I'd still be playing today.", and laughed heartily. Truly a class act.

Mr. Killebrew was a true class act and will be missed. I was fortunate to meet him a couple of times and he was always very pleasant.

One of the last class acts from the old school of players.

I always loved his signature. Such a precise, fine, straight sig. Here he is on my 500 hr litho...hard to believe that 4 of those guys are gone.

The last MLB FanFest that I went to in 2008 was in St. Louis. I stood in line for these two guys autographs. Sadly, both now gone. Agree with a previous post, the Killebrew signature as always so precise and he took his time to shake your hand and thank you for coming. What a guy.
