1953 Bowman Baseball Proofs
Does anyone have a scan they can post of the 1953 Bowman Proof "Dodgers In Action"?
Sure would appreciate it & thanks! |
All 4 proofs were in an SCP auction about '02. Their archives only go back to '06. The images in the catalog aren't big but I'll try and dig it up and post it tonite if someone hasn't done so already.

Thanks for the scan. Anyone know which players are on the card?

Who is pictured on the other three cards? I recall seeing a Ferris Fain once upon a time. It looked a lot like the cards of Gil Hodges and Whitey Lockman ...
|
The 4 '53 proofs were offered in the November '01 SCP auction.
They were Dodgers in action, Slaughter (same pose as his '53 issue) Spahn (different pose, mid windup) and Fain, who did not have a card issued of him in the '53 Color set. Greg do you remember the hammer price? I was either the underbidder or 2nd underbidder on most of them, I seem to recall them going for $1200-$1400 or so? I don't have the realized prices from that auction, but they were lots 258-261 |
Curious if anyone has scans of all four of these proofs? Have spent a few hours scouring the internet to no avail.

Cool!!! Too bad its not yanks in action...seeing as the reese card is already dodger in action!!!

A board member has previously posted a scan of a black and white "1952 Bowman Proof" of Harry Brecheen. He has stated, and it sure looks like, it's a 1953 Bowman instead.
