Scanner for Cards
So it finally happened ...my new computer does not recognize my old scanner, which made the best card scans ever!
Can anybody recommend a good Canon scanner that shows cards beautifully and works with Microsoft 7? I am partial to Canon, because my last one -- a CanoScan 3000F -- cost me just $50, and made great scans like this one: <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/rNtCd9bkpEpjLoa-zRe_Pw?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_Ys7fw31kTDs/TKyDhu9_AXI/AAAAAAAAIss/9NQMrRnwxJ0/s800/Leach%20Portrait%20SGC%2070.jpg" height="800" width="486" /></a> |
Just make sure the scanning element is a CCD & NOT a CIS or you will be sorely disappointed! I'm pretty positive your 3000 is a CCD.
You won't get one for $50 anymore unless you buy a used one on EBay. |

Get a 8800F...
This one is highly recommended by a few board members, and I bought one, and it the scans are beautiful. If you do a search on scanner's, this subject has been covered in depth in the past. Good Luck ! (BTW - This scan has No editing/touch up whatsoever) |
A second big thumbs up for the Canon Canoscan 8800f..have used it for over a year and just yesterday I bought a new computer with Microsoft 7 and it is compatible.

canon's work good. don't mean to hijack the thread, but, what dpi settings do most of my fellow collectors on here use?

Alot of people like the Epson's.....I have one, and you can see numerous threads about them across the street.
