R313 Help

Can anyone tell me who is on the R313 Fence Busters card? Additionally, is there a resource out there that helps ID all the players in the "action sequences?" Thanks in advance!

R313 '35 Cubs?

Man, that's a tough one, Tim. Found a picture on google, and my guess would be the pic was taken at Wrigley Field of part of the Chicago Cubs starting lineup, but if that's true, you probably already know that. Standard Catalog doesn't help either. If it is the Cubs, if this is any help, the Baseball Encyclopedia indicates that the '35 Cubs (whom I would assume would be pictured, as the "DiMaggio slams it" pic was taken in spring training of '36) had Chuck Klein with 21, Augie Galan with 12, Gabby Hartnett with 13, Phil Cavarretta with 8, and Billy Herman with 7 homeruns. Incidentally, the Cubs won the National League pennant that year with a 100-54 record. That takes me back to Stratomatic Baseball days, when we ordered the all-time greatest teams, which included those Cubbies.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, and good luck!

Larry

I believe this is correct.
Fence Busters - Lon Warneke, Charlie Root, Riggs Stephenson, Woody English, Augie Galan & Billy Herman

I have many of them identified on my checklist of the set.

Thanks for the help Larry and Jeff

I have had the card for some time hoping it had Gabby Hartnett on it like so many of the other action cards seem to. Oh well! I agree those were the days Larry- just wish we had a modern Billy Herman to go with Geo as Gabby.

Jeff - great site! I appreciate the work you put into it!!!
