REA just arrived

Oh well --I guess the lawn will not be mowed today --the REA catalog just arrived and it looks fabulous. :D

GrayGhost 04-18-2011 11:58 AM

I requested one also. I have a day off tomorrow, and if it comes today, I could see myself reading basically the whole thing too in one sitting.:)

Couldn't figure out why I had a delivery from FedEx but no mistaking what it was once I picked up the box.

Got to say a total class act sending this to me as I have never placed a bid in any of the auctions but love to receive the catalogs to dream, drool and use as reference.

Thumbs up to REA.

bcbgcbrcb 04-18-2011 01:59 PM

Received my catalogue today as well, definitely a keepsake!

Noticing the word on the cover, I wonder how many people fax in their bids nowadays?

Best,

Andy

It looks fabulous, but how does it smell? ;)

REA Arrived Today for Me as Well.

The "Christmas Catalog" arrived for me today too! I love reading and using it for a resource. There are so many great items in it! I would love to own many things.
Unfortunately for me, after waiting weeks and weeks in anticipation for what E98 tresures that the auction might hold, I am so disappointed and saddened to see that not a SINGLE E98 is available in this year's auction:(! It is like getting lots of cool stuff for Christmas as a kid, but never getting the thing that you REALLY WANTED! It's Ralphie not getting his BB gun....except worse, there isn't an E98 hiding in the corner waiting to be discovered like Ralphie's gun.

Pup6913 04-18-2011 03:09 PM

Their selection or I should say non selection of T205's this yr is horrible. Probably wont pop off a single bid.:(:(

Sorry Tim. If it's any consolation, there are 3 E94 lots including 2 overprints. Kind of stinks that what you collect is one of the few holes in this year's offering.

slidekellyslide 04-18-2011 03:14 PM

Seems like this might be the least interesting REA memorabilia-wise in a long time...at least no one on the memorabilia side is even discussing this auction when in the past there used to be just as much anticipation there as there was over here on the card side.

Tim Kindler 04-18-2011 04:04 PM

Disappointing for me, but it might be awesome for others

Matt,
This year's auction is disappointing to me because there is nothing from one of the major sets that I collect, but if you collect T206s, T210s, etc. WOW what a selection to choose from! It is kinda like going to a show, a card shop, or The National. If you find a bunch of stuff that you collect, then it is the greatest show that you have ever been too! If you don't find anything that YOU are interested in, then the show stinks:( But, it is still cool to look through everything.

Oh, Chuck on the smell, my wife won't let me read the catalog in bed next to her at night, because the smell of the printing makes her ill!:p

+1 on the lack of a "really cool" Lajoie card or piece of memorabilia.

gnaz01 04-18-2011 04:25 PM

Sadly, mine hasn't come yet today

And yet, not a single signed T206. Oh well.... :(

bigtrain 04-18-2011 04:48 PM

Still waiting for my catalog. I know they ship from the printer but its still frustrating since REA is in a neighboring town.

Rich Klein 04-18-2011 06:30 PM

Made it to Plano TX

Mine was waiting for me when I got home --- it's always great reading

Rich

RichR 04-18-2011 08:05 PM

Mine just arrived, and, wow, is the new Fed Ex dude creepy. If a Fed Ex truck full of bodies ever turns up, I know who the authorities should look for.

ktwilli71 04-19-2011 03:05 PM

I got mine today . Now I have something to look at and read while
Im at work tonight.

REA Catalog delivered

My REA Catalog touchdowned in Nashville, TN this morning at 8am from the FedEx courier. The Mid-South is represented...

By the way, Tim - I feel your pain on the E98's, as much to my chagrin, there are no T211's either. :(

gnaz01 04-19-2011 03:41 PM

I'm all the way in Miami, and it hasn't reached here yet :mad:

c203816 04-19-2011 04:48 PM

Mine showed up today and WOW, what a selection! This having been my first consignment of an item to REA or any other auction house, is it typical for the bidding to slow or stop after only a few days of the opening? Does it normally pick up again toward the closing days?

Big Six 04-19-2011 04:54 PM

Wow

Mine arrived safe and sound this morning...looks like I've got some reading to do...this thing is bigger than our town's phone book!!! First class presentation...happy bidding one and all!

GrayGhost 04-19-2011 06:24 PM

Still no book. Maybe because I didn't bid last time, they ignored my request last month, or its just delayed. I like to have it to read and for reference.

brob28 04-19-2011 06:44 PM

Have faith Scott, got mine today. :)

tbob 04-19-2011 07:18 PM

Haven't received mine yet. Kind of a bummer since I am a consignor :(

Yes, and yes - on the closing day, especially in overtime.

Cheers,
Blair

I live in PA, and my catalog arrived yesterday. It was shipped by FEDEX from NY, and the ship date was 04/11/11. 9 days from NY to PA?

Anyway, the catalog is great, first class all the way!

Tony

Jay Wolt 04-20-2011 06:43 AM

Tony I live in PA too! But its still a no-show.
Hopefully Mr FedEx man will arrive this morning :)

wondo 04-20-2011 07:51 AM

Jay,

Mine made it to Reading yesterday - looks like the snail is due at your door today.

BengoughingForAwhile 04-20-2011 11:52 AM

Got mine this morning in Naperville! Worried I wasn't on the list anymore. I'd better buy the Wagner this year so I get another catalog next year!

tbob 04-20-2011 05:49 PM

Now that is funny :D

slidekellyslide 04-20-2011 06:08 PM

Arrived in Nebraska today! The catalog must have gone to print pretty late because I referred a guy who had a rare Nellie Fox pinback to REA and it was already two weeks past the catalog deadline and it still made it into the catalog.

GrayGhost 04-20-2011 06:30 PM

Still nothing. I guess Im done. I haven't got ANY mail for three days now..aw

joeadcock 04-20-2011 07:51 PM

Greg

South Beach?

I was raised in Kendall in 70's and 80's(close to Miami Dade South).

We went to South beach for sun during day and clubs at night. Were you there when CLUB 1235 and Club Nu was there(in 80's)?

Memories of the 836, Miami Serpentarium, US 1, Youth Fair, Dadeland Mall.

First T206 at the Tropical Flea Market(LONG GONE).

Hey Tony,

FYI - I believe the USPS is handling the first leg of the shipping, and then FedEx is handling the destination delivery point. (FedEx SmartPost Service is a slower more economical service to regular ground shipping)

Orions father 04-20-2011 09:09 PM

The Fed Ex Buggy has not made it out West yet.

Griffins 04-20-2011 09:11 PM

The FedEx buggy made it to L.A. today, so it hit the end of the continent.
