Great Delahanty and for a great price imho
The cab presents much nicer than the flip and may have sold for more if it was unslabbed

Thank you - the same piece went for $15k+ in the last REA auction. People must have been chasing other items - Bill had plenty of sick cards in this one.

Great Big Ed card, one of my hobby favs.

scooter729 04-15-2011 06:37 AM

Awesome card, John! I had been planning on bidding on it towards the end last night, but had been in the lead on another item when I was going to sleep (which I lost sometime around 1 AM).

Had I ended up winning both, mortgage payments would have been in trouble. Alas, I got neither, but am happy to see you got that great cabinet!!

sycks22 04-15-2011 06:51 AM

I saw the Plank went for $191k. What type of jobs do people have where almost $200k is no biggie? I want that job. Congrats on the nice card.

CMIZ5290 04-15-2011 06:53 AM

Tried to buy a couple of t206s, but holy cow! Boy did some of those cards ring the bell! T206 cy young psa 8 goes for $30k! Sgc 80 doolan with broadleaf back goes for over $5k! Oh well, maybe next time.

philliesphan 04-15-2011 07:08 AM

Congrats, John!

I was underbidder on the N142 -- I'm glad it went to a good home!

I had been aggressively pursuing the BL350 Phillies, but the pair of them [commons!] sold for $9,500+. Underbidder on both of those -- crazy money for common rare backs. Both presented very nice.

Bill's auctions are really up there with all the big boys. He does a great job on merchandising and he doesn't mind handling phone calls when someone needs a better description. His prices have consistantly reflected that. Wish i could have bought those 2 t206s! Anyone that lost out at the last minute on the t206 psa 8 cy young (glove shows), i have the same card in an sgc 86 holder with a tolstoi back! let me know if interested, thanks.

John, it actually is not the same card that sold in REA, but it was obviously from the same find - same wear in the upper left and same initials on the back. The most obvious distinction is the tiny chip on the upper border of yours, and I am pretty sure that the REA example had a crease in the bottom right.

Great, great card.

Kevin,

I stand corrected. Wow - very similar cards indeed. How you been doin?

ls7plus 04-17-2011 09:58 PM

Here's my high-five too, John--terrific card!

Best regards,

Larry

Wow, they had to draw his shoulders 3x wider than normal to fit "Philadelphia" across his chest.

I feel the same way as you sometimes John!! I had my dream card (A 1951 Bowman Mantle rookie)...owned it a grand total of 48 hours before I flipped it for $800 profit. I am such a card w**re!! Technically, aren't we all just "renting" these things anyway?? Not like any of us are going to be buried with these things......or are we?????

joeadcock 07-16-2011 10:44 PM

John

Beutiful card

glchen 08-06-2011 01:27 AM

Looks like ~2800 bath for a 4 month rental. Can't say I haven't taken my own beatings when selling cards recently, however.

glchen 09-30-2011 05:03 PM

The N142 Delehanty is back again in the latest Mile High Auction: Link

benchod 09-30-2011 08:27 PM

guess he decided to rent it a bit longer

Matt 10-01-2011 07:44 PM

Makes it hard to figure out what the true market is for this card; other then it being less than whatever it sold for last time.

Bicem 10-02-2011 10:07 AM

It's such a great card too, strange.

tbob 10-02-2011 11:54 AM

This card is paralleling my mutual funds :(
The way it is dropping each respective auction, it's in my ballpark now.:p
I agree Jeff, it IS a great card....

Leon 10-03-2011 11:50 AM

thin market

Very wild swings happen more frequently in thinly traded series. Unfortunately when I quit collecting I will definitely take a bath on some things I paid a ton for. I paid up due to their rarity but the other side of the equation (the demand side) I will argue, is far more important in determining value. Fortunately I have also acquired a few very high demand items too. They should almost make up for my losses when the time comes :). regards

rustywilly 10-03-2011 12:22 PM

John - Congrats on the Delahanty! Beautiful card.

oldjudge 10-03-2011 12:23 PM

Bob-I know one sold in Goodwin for just under $10K earlier this year. What sales have taken place since then?
