Early Omaha Baseball

Sue Maryott from Nebraska Education Television is producing a show which is tentatively titled "Rosenblatt the Final Inning". In addition to featuring Omaha Municipal Stadium/Rosenblatt they are doing a segment on the various Omaha teams from the 1890's and early 1900's.

Specifically she is looking for high resolution scans of the Omahogs (1885-89), Indians (1892), Rangers (1904), Rourkes (1905-20) Buffaloes (1921-1927), Packers (1930-1935), Robin Hoods (1936), Cardinals Class "A" (1947-54), (yes I know they played at Legion Park in Council Bluffs in 47 and 48), the AAA Cardinals from 54-59 and the Dodgers from 61-62. Any pictures of Rourke/Legion Park and Omaha Municipal are also desired.

If you wish to share any of your collection on this subject pm me or email me at besser at omahamarian.org

Ive sold a lot of Omaha Dodgers and Cardinals things of late. I will forward this info to the guy that buys all my Omaha (also omaha Knights) items. He has a very nice collection but never shows it. But Ill put a bug in his ear for you and Sue M.

Hey Bruce, I just picked up a nice photo of Mel Harder in his Omaha Buffaloes uniform. I can send it to you in email.

Thanks Dan,
I saw that auction after it closed. Great pic of the Buffalo on the uniform.
She wants high quality scans 300 dpi or greater. The video will be in high def and she wants to do a lot of Ken Burns stuff (i.e. focus in on part of the picture).

I know that a member of this forum has a whole set of individual photos of the Omaha Robin Hoods..including Clarence Mitchell. I'll point this thread out to him.

Robin Hoods

Thanks Dan, I'll get these scanned and up but it'll probably be a day or two.

Sue would like them scanned at as high a resolution as possible. On some she will zoom into parts of the photo so scanning at 300 or 600 dpi (or higher) is best.

Thanks Dan, for getting in touch with other collectors. I think it is going to be an excellent production.

Omaha Photos

It looks like they are being resized by Photobucket so If you provide an email, I'll send the full 300dpi scans directly to you.

Awesome! Thanks Andy!!!

edited to add: I notice the photos were developed in Waterloo which was in the Western League in 1936...It's probable that these were taken at Waterloo instead of Omaha.

Waterloo

Hi Dan,
Ya' know, I didn't even put that together but it does look like maybe some photographer in Iowa got the teams as they came through (or at least the Robin Hoods.)

slidekellyslide 04-18-2011 08:13 PM

The only Graham's Ice Cream I could find is in Ottumwa, IA which is about 100 miles from Waterloo, IA...still I think it is Waterloo.

Just saw the commercial for this program...it will air in June and is titled "Rosenblatt: The Final Inning." Can't wait to see it.

Program

Hi Dan,

How would a guy in the Sacramento area get his paws on a copy of the program? Any chance it'll be put to a disc and distributed somehow?

Thanks,
-
Andy

I think Bruce may personally know the lady that produced the film...I'll bet he'll be able to get a copy of it.

tachyonbb 05-07-2011 07:54 PM

They are still discussing whether they will make this into a marketable DVD. If they do then you will be able to acquire it from the NETV website. If not then I will see what it will take to get some copies made.

slidekellyslide 05-07-2011 07:55 PM

Thanks Bruce, if they don't market it and you are able to get a copy I'd love to have one.

tachyonbb 05-11-2011 07:24 AM

Sue is requesting higher resolution scans than 300 dpi. She needs the width to be at least 1960 pixels. She want to be able to focus in on part of the picture and still be in high def.

Once again, if anyone has any Omaha baseball items, particularly pre war she would be interested. She is scanning Jack Payne's collection this week and she plans on having an interview with him on the program.

They are planning on marketing a DVD of the program. The current plans are to include the DVD as a subscriber bonus to those who become members of NETV. The membership costs $25.00 and the DVD will be provided as part of the membership. I will let everyone know when the campaign starts. They have not decided whether they will market the DVD as a stand alone item I suspect they will wait until after the campaign to make that decision.

Never mind...she emailed me just now.
