Auto ID

I went though probable 40 auto'd bats today and was able to ID and match with an auto ticket or COA all but one...Whose autograph is this?

http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...Photo_04-2.jpg

Also ballpark values for bats with COAs / auto tickets, some with photos of signing, all pretty unquestionably good....all are autograph model bats, no gamers or anything extreme. Nice Sharpie sigs.

Mantle
Williams (UDA)
DiMaggio
Alex Rodriguez
Mize

There are several dozen more with names like Robinson (brooks and frank) Stargell, Santon, Slaughter, Mays, Aaron, Schmidt, Snider...but I figure the above are probably the bigger tickets...don't know much about autos, I'm afraid.

Many of the bats are old enough (signed in the 90s) that there were no premiums attached to autographing bats....

If it can't be read, and he's not famous enough to have a "recognizable" scrawl, why should anyone care who wrote it?
(And I use the word "wrote" quite loosely.)

Dude, if you don't have anything constructive to say, why say anything? He is just asking for help, not some belittling comment from you.

David Atkatz 04-09-2011 04:52 PM

The only person I'm "belittling" is the player who "signed" the bat.
Dude.

thenavarro 04-09-2011 10:29 PM

To me, that looks like someone tried to do an Andruw Jones, but I'm not sure.

sbfinley 04-09-2011 10:43 PM

Andy LaRoche?

packs 04-09-2011 11:11 PM

It does kinda look like Andruw Jones.

Bilko G 04-10-2011 12:24 AM

Its definitely NOT Andy Laroche.

Edit- This is definitely Andruw Jones (or an attempted Andruw Jones :)), but it is a very early signature of his as he has changed his autograph in recent years.

Heres a comparison picture...

drc 04-10-2011 12:37 AM

I would guess Andruw Jones

bbcard1 04-10-2011 05:37 AM

Jones makes sense. I found several auto tickets for him. Thanks.

yanksfan09 04-10-2011 07:13 PM

yeah, definitely Andruw Jones or a fake of him, not sure....

But I don't see why anyone would be belittling Jones. This guy isn't what he used to be but hit about 400 hrs by his early 30's, had some W.S. heroics as an 18 year old and was a great centerfielder. That's not someone I'd call insignificant or dismiss as garbage, imo....

David Atkatz 04-10-2011 07:17 PM

All that, but he never learned to write his own name.

HRBAKER 04-10-2011 07:40 PM

A. Jones

It is Andruw and he did learn to write his name.

David Atkatz 04-10-2011 07:52 PM

Yeah. That says "Andruw Jones."

I guess not every major-leaguer is accomplished in the the art of choligraphy.....

That's a nice looking stylized signature in my opinion and better than 1/2 of the athletes today. I really don't understand the issue here....

David Atkatz 04-10-2011 09:13 PM

"Calligraphy."

Congratulations! You managed to spell that correctly!
BTW, here's a postcard the Babe sent to his friends at St. Alban's Golf Club when he was in LA filming "The Pride of The Yankees." I'm in good company!

Wow, you are a clever horse's ass
Penz

David Atkatz 04-10-2011 10:13 PM

Always end sentences with a period, Penz. But you're getting there. Keep plugging.
(BTW, Forum rules require that if you're gonna call people names, you must post your own full name--first and last. Welcome to Net54!)

plug what?

Penz

David Atkatz 04-10-2011 10:24 PM

Plugging away at improving your grammatical skills.

Maybe where you come from. Not here, though.

photo111 04-10-2011 10:42 PM

This was fun. Keep plugging away at a cut rate school upstate. Horzez azz

David Atkatz 04-10-2011 10:47 PM

Cut rate? It's one of the most expensive colleges in the country! Get your facts right! If you're planning on sending a kid here, you'd better have some deep pockets. (And if you had attended yourself, you probably would know what "keep plugging" means.)

(Again, full name please. Forum rules, you know.)

And you forgot the period, again. Tsk, tsk.

David Atkatz 04-10-2011 11:10 PM

Thanks. The Babe had a sense of humor.

But "this clown" is finished with you.

The only card you had left to play
I left the period off
