Maybe a dum idea for a thread and maybe it's been done before, but I thought it would be neat if everyone would post their avatar and explain what it is and why they chose it. I'll start. Mine is my head on a photo of a young Mantle. Mantle is my all time fave!

Double name/name on top
 

I have an affinity towards the miscut T206s with double names, or name only on top. My favorite is my avatar... SGC 30 Ty Cobb Bat On Shoulder.

I keep mine as the biggest mistake I have made to date. If I ever can I will make his home my registry again.

I chose Tip O'Neill who was a 2 time batting champion in his 10 year career & in 1887 hit a robust .435

It's a 1960s photo of British fashion model Jean Shrimpton. I like fashion photography and am a fan of Shrimpton.

I just love certain T206 portraits, and IMO this is one of the best- and I didn't see anyone else using it :)

1913 Colgan's Tin Tops of the actor Mike Donlin (he had quit baseball to focus 100% on acting and never actually played for Philly).

I wanted to commemorate my favorite collectable, Detroit Old Judges. So I took the background from a Stump Weidman card. I then rotated the Old Judge banner from a Larry Twitchell card. The "Detroit" team name was also pulled from an 1887 Twitchell. Added a couple shadows and called it good.

Alwys torn between painting and real photo which is why i like t202's. Thought this was super cool and one day Graig will paint it for me :D

My favorite card I own from my ultimate card passion, 1911 T205s. Wilhelm (I know you cannot see the back but it is the suffered version). Beautiful color and a great portrait. Love this set!

My favorite pre-war player, and a classic pose that has Big Six looking over at each of my posts, giving them a little extra gravitas. The technique worked better on the old Net54, where the avatars were to the left of each post, instead of breaking up each post as they do now. (Yes, I am still grumpy about the switch, even if i am the only one who misses the simplicity and clarity of the old board.)

Just love the card, even though the border is a bit lacking

I made the avatar using a program similar to
Photoshop, using the main image of Cobb and
setting him against an orange background.

One of the few "untouchable" cards in my modest
collection. Crease-free with well loved corners.
