Help Requested Pls - Boxing Wire Photos
Hello!
I typically collect baseball and I am out of my depth with these. I picked them up in a lot and was wondering what the value might be on these? Thanks in advance. 1935 Jack Dempsey wire photo (mentions Paramount Studios, Director Millard Webb, Mary Eaton and the movie "Glorifying the American Girl" http://i518.photobucket.com/albums/u...me/EBAY361.jpg http://i518.photobucket.com/albums/u...me/EBAY362.jpg 1929 James Braddock wire photo (caption portion detached but present) Braddock prepating for Tommy Loughran fight at Sulphur Springs, with John O'Reilly and Frank Curtan. http://i518.photobucket.com/albums/u...me/EBAY364.jpg http://i518.photobucket.com/albums/u...me/EBAY365.jpg Postcard of Joe Wright, with what appears to be his signature on the back. http://i518.photobucket.com/albums/u...me/EBAY367.jpg http://i518.photobucket.com/albums/u...me/EBAY370.jpg |
Hi, Chris:
Rather than being a wirephoto, the Dempsey looks to be a studio promo shot, the kind that might have been packaged in a press kit. Still, it's a neat image in good shape, and Dempsey is always popular. Figure $75-$100. The Braddock is an original wirephoto and should fetch in the $45-$60 range. The postcard, being that it's banged up and the autograph is personalized, would be $25-$35. Hope this helps. |
Thanks!

I may put these on the B/S/T section as they don't fit my collection. If anyone is interested? |
The Dempsey is a studio publicity still. The number scratched into the negative by the feet of the man on the left is a production number that identifies the film for the studio. It is not a production still or a lobby card since it doesn't show a scene from the movie or have any promotional data on it. I'd estimate value more like $15-$35.
