Last Time Your Favorite Team In Each 4 Major Sports Won A Championship?
Wondering when was the last time your favorite team in each of the 4 major sports won a title?
I'll Start: Baseball - Boston Red Sox - 2007 Basketball -Boston Celtics - 2008 Football - Green Bay Packers - 2011 (YES!!!!!) Hockey - Boston Bruins - 1972 Not bad........need the Bruins to win one soon. |
God. I guess I'm a homer, but I've got a few in each sport.
Baseball-Indians-1948 Football-Browns-1964(or no Super Bowls) Basketball-Cavs-Never Other fav's Baseball-Rockies- never Rays-never Football-Buccaneers-2002 Basketball-Nuggets-never Don't care much for hockey, but I guess I would favor the Avs('01) and Lightning('04) I never really noticed this until now, but it would appear that all my favorite teams are from Cleveland(my hometown), Denver or Tampa. And obviously I'm not a fan of the Broncos because I just can't as a Browns fan. I've always liked these teams, but co-incidentally my wife ended up being from Tampa and her half-sister is from the Denver area. |

Baseball- 2010 San Fran Giants
Basketball- 1973 Knicks Football- 2007 Giants (did I get the year right?) Hockey- don't follow |
MLB - San Diego Padres - never (just 4 games away in 1984 and 1998)
NBA - Indiana Pacers - 1972-73 (ABA) NFL - Indianapolis Colts - 2007 I don't really follow hockey (other than Boston University), but I liked the Broad Street Bullies of 1973-74 and 1974-75. |
MLB - Yankees 2009
NFL/NFC - Cowboys 1996 NFL/AFC - Jets 1968 NBA/West - Lakers 2010 NBA/East - Knickerbockers 1973 NHL - Habs 1992/93 |
NFL Baltimore Colts 1970-71
NBA Baltimore Bullets 1977-78 MLB Baltimore Orioles 1983 |
Scott T- when the Indiana Pacers won the 1973 ABA Championship, they clinched it against the Nets at the Nassau Coliseum. I went to nearly all the Nets playoff games that year including the one in which the Pacers clinched the title. That's the only championship I've ever witnessed in person.
And my freshman year at Boston University, we were the NCAA hockey champs (1969-70). Steve Sterling was the star of the team. But I never watched them play. |
NHL - Nashville Predators: Never
NBA - Memphis Grizzlies: Never NFL - Tennessee Titans: Never (2 AFL Championships as Oilers) :( |
Baseball - Yankees 2009
Football - Giants 2008 Super Bowl 2007 Season Basketball - UCONN Huskies 2004 Hockey - Hartford Whalers, never..........and can't bring myself to care about the Hurricanes |
Football - Seattle Seahawks (one Super Bowl appearance)
Baseball - Seattle Mariners (no World Series appearances) Basketball - Seattle Sonics (1979-80 World Champs, Sold by Starbucks to Oklahoma City) Over 100 years of organized sport and 1 Championship from a team that no longer exists. Guess I could've mentioned the Seattle Metropolitans 1917 Stanley Cup Champs. Recently saw Seattle was named the "Worst Sports City" due to their teams ineptitude. We would like to see a championship. |
my 3
I see many guys here only list 3, most excluding Hockey.
I'll limit mine to 3, but must exclude NBA as I couldn't care less about that league... Here Goes: NHL= Detroit Red Wings (2007-08) (11 championships in total) NFL= Miami Dolphins (1973 season, Jan 74 Super Bowl) (22 playoff appearances) and my real favorite: MLB=Philadelphia Phillies (2008 Season) (losingest franchise of all-time but enjoying a very nice stretch!) |

Cubs - 1908 I've got the cardboard to prove that it can happen.
Bulls - 2011 Bears- 1985 |
Some good, some bad:
Baseball: Mets 1986 Football: Giants 2008 Basketball: Knicks 1973 (if you count the ABA, which I do, then the Nets in 1976) Hockey: Islanders 1983 |
Baseball - SF Giants 2010 :D
Football - SF 49ers 1994 :) Basketball - GS Warriors 1975  Hockey - Calif Golden Seals (Never), SJ Sharks Never  |
There's some interesting mixes of teams here.
I'm confused too. Green Bay Packers - 2011 (I've been a fan since 1995, never followed Football prior) Chicago Cubs - 1908 (I've been a fan since 1984, thanks much to my mother and grandmother for raising me as a fan of this cursed team.;) ) I'm not a Basketball or Hockey fan, but if I were either, I'd follow the Bulls and Blackhawks. Wisconsin doesn't have a Major League Hockey team that I'm aware of, and the Bucks just seem really boring. Tom |
Here's mine
Baseball - San Diego Padres Never Football - Buffalo Bills 1965 (AFL Champions) Hockey - Buffalo Sabres Never Basketball - Could care less Lacrosse - Buffalo Bandits 2008 (Big fan, season ticket holder, and my only favorite team to win a championship in my lifetime) (Sorry Seattle!!!) |
