Feds collectors. Info please?
Recently became intrigued by this fledgling organization.
In this photo, I'm thinking these players are out on the prowl and attending Fat Tuesday. (Camp was held in Shrevesport). Some questions for the Fed folks. Was this a party league?. Did management turn a blind eye where players indiscretions we're tolerated?.. Or did they realize, "heck, we'll be folding any day now., So, what the hay."? 1915 L-R Dutch Zwilling CF, Jim Stanley SS, Art Wilson C, Jack Kading 1B, Hendrix RHP and Fritz 3B; http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3..._ft43Dl__3.jpg |
Chicago Feds
Steve,
I don't know if I can answer any of your questions, but quality players "jumped" from their NL and AL teams because they were promised much more money. RHP Claude Hendrix was a marquis type player when he joined the Chicago Feds in 1914. He had 6 seasons with 20 or more wins, and 29 with the Feds in 1914. If his career had lasted a few more years he might have made it to the HOF. On 5/15/15 he no-hit the Pittsburgh Rebels while on the Chicago Feds. |
