Name that player (Hint, it's not Joltin Joe....)
I bought this 1952 biography of Joe Dimaggio. I was pleased to get a fairly unique title (I'd never seen it before) but I think the editors got the cover photo screwed up.
Any guesses? http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5014/...c107a808_z.jpg |
It looks like Ted Williams with a New York jersey on.

Ted Williams is X
Rizzuto?...just a guess
Not Rizzuto.
First hint: he's not Italian. |
Gene Woodling
Gene Woodling ist nicht gut! (that is, it ain't Gene)
Ferris Fain
Not Mr. Fain.
Hint #2 --It's a Yankee Hint #2A: there's another hint in one of my posts above |
Ist dass Der Iron Horse?
Gehrig
Gehrig it i!
The book cover illustration is complicated by the bad crop around his nose. Here's the same photo inside the book http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4098/...5448d620_b.jpg |
Das Henrich?
You'd think someone doing a biography on DiMaggio would know that he hit right handed.
Here's a crop of the book cover shot of Gehrig. The cropping makes me look like a Photoshop professional

Now that i've brushed up on Italian, I see the book is an instructional rather than a DiMaggio bio. Joe was thus the "author" rather than the subject of the book |
