Can someone tell me if this ball is shellacked?

I believe it is, cuz it looks darker then a normal ball from that era. Anyone have thoughts on shellacking, stay away from shellacked balls? or not an issue? |
That ball is not shellacked. My personal feeling is that as long as the surface isn't chipping or flaking off there is no problem with shellacked baseballs. If the surface treatment has turned the ball yellow that's kind of a bummer as well.

Plus one on not shellacked. The way that the ink has "eaten into" the leather in places is typical of balls that haven't been coated, and I've seen plenty that haven't that have toned to this level (which, I assume, is why you suspected shellacking in the first place).
