1952 Topps Baseball.
The STAR below the card number...Does anyone have any information regarding this part of the card?? I have a couple cards that look good in all ways except for this star does not match the stars at the bottom of the card that are on either side of "TOPPS BASEBALL". I fear for, and am prepared for the worst...but be gentle anyway. Thanks |
what exactly are you asking?.......size differences? Placement of the stars?

Your Answer
The size of the stars in the 1st series (Card #'s 1-80 which come in both red and black backs) of 52 topps issued are larger. The size is reduced in the subsequent series.
1st series - 1-80 2nd series - 81-130 3es series - 131-190 4th series - 191-250 5th series - 251-310 6th series - 311-407 |
1952 stars
...and if your card 307 has one red star and one black star at the bottom....hold onto it :)

Thanks for information so far...surprised...
Thanks for the input so far...It appears that these cards are authentic? I caught a scan or two on another post that shows these stars.
The question was...Are cards with the (what appears to be handwritten) bigger stars counterfeits or are they just (oddly unprofessional) Topps variations from what I imagine to be their first go at the set?? I guess the handwritten star is "ok"? I'm a bit surprised there isn't more information when searching this oddity, but I suppose by now it's just an accepted variation of this set (one of many dozens it appears). Would love more feedback on this...:o |
