New low - Ruth bat dust

People can find a way to make money on anything. Check out this E-Bay listing for the dust from of those sliced up bats that card companys use to make GUed insert cards.

Gather up enough of these for ninety-nine cents. One could form it back into full-size, authentic bat. Just like Pringles does!

I saw Joe Jackson bat dust once.

I'm holding out for some dried up ball spit. I'm gonna clone myself a Ty Cobb in the basement to help me out with the yard work. Temperment might be an issue, but should be a good time and hustle will not be an issue.

Bob

Alomar would have helped you with that Bob. But he wasted all his on the umpire.

And you think you have seen it all....

I'm going to wait until someone mixes together saw dust from the bats of Ruth, Cobb, Wagner, Mathewson and Johnson. Someone could mix it all together with a little bit of glue/resin and create the ultimate game used collectible.

This is a great post. What a fine example of how far things are going down the game-used bat road.

Have you guys seen this one? I didn't believe it until I saw the listing on ebay.

Apparently you can wear the game-used bat/material on your wrist...What will they come up with next???

Ooooh! They come with a collectible Relic Wear Ted Williams card. I must have one of these bracelets...I wasn't exactly sure before, but the card(probably, featuring a piece of Ted's Undies) pretty much sealed the deal. Oh, and did I mention that the card is 1 of 250....Let's not forget the download code good for ANY audible.com book. What a deal!!!!

Honestly, I get the sawdust as it's the scraps from the game used items, basically creating the poor-mans game used material. I still hate the idea of carving up history, but I hate the thought of even one bit of those item winding up in the trash even more...But seriously, they've gone way too far with this bracelet crap.

Why not use the sawdust in the bracelets? At least then we won't have to see those ugly plastic dust coins..

I hear that they are going to cut up the saw that cut up the bats, and distribute the tiny plastic and metal pieces of the saw in packs of shiny cards.

Robextend 01-07-2011 11:26 AM

They should do the same thing with one of Hacksaw Jim Duggan's 2X4s.

Wasn't that the plot of the Wolverine movie?

Mr. McGuire: I want to say one word to you. Just one word.
Benjamin: Yes, sir.
Mr. McGuire: Are you listening?
Benjamin: Yes, I am.
Mr. McGuire: Sawdust.
Benjamin: Just how do you mean that, sir?

I am planning to put my copy of Ty Cobb's Busting Em through the shredder, slabbing the shreads and selling the slabs. Please indicate your interest below

(Leon, if this is OT and should be posted on the Memorabilia side, please let me know ;))

You can also buy the Limited Edition Ted Williams Bat Dust Tiara.

novakjr 01-07-2011 04:45 PM

Absolutely awesome. Sign me up for one of them.

Ok, here's the new collectable - Steroid tainted blood samples mixed into the sawdust of bats of the following ball players (500HR club members):

Bonds
A-Rod
Sosa
McGwire
Palmiero (the card could be the picture of him pointing at congress)
Ramirez
Sheffield

This all to be followed by "failed" urine samples of the same players (of course it would have to be mixed with the sawdust of those player's bats).

Oh no, am I going to get blasted for crossing the line here and taking this way off topic?

chaddurbin 01-07-2011 05:31 PM

Getting back to those sawdust "coins"... you could have gotten as many of 'em as you wanted at the 2008 All-Star Fanfest. Didn't see a Ruth in this batch, though...
