Nice find! :)

So what are we saying here? That there is ANOTHER 1914 Babe Ruth card?!!

Wow....very nice. And that is Rube Marquard pitching, according to the PC description. This is what keeps the hobby fun for me. This is actually a pretty big revelation, in my addicted opinion....And for anyone interested there will probably be the stamp Marquard in our next B and L auction. Thanks for noticing and posting!!
|
OK, now I see the Marquard identifier. Does that mean that people have been overpaying for the stamp, in the hopes that the image was of Ruth? Or are both issues simply generic ballplayer depictions?

hard to say

Rube's features are clearer on this 1906 Issue in Lew's last auction. I didnt know he was a knuckleballer.

Leon, that's a nice example. There aren't many of those around, and a "crafty" southpaw HOF'er nonetheless.
Steve, that sure nailed it. |
nice discovery...awesome!!!
|
I concur
I'll plan to change the Standard Catalog listing accordingly.

This thread got me to thinking about another picture/card mistaken identity?
Picture is Satchel Paige and card is obviously Bob Feller. Even if they had the same wind-up the picture of Paige always reminds me of Feller's card |
