Mel Ott Signed Ball
Does anyone have a Mel Ott Single Signed Ball. I would love to see a real one and not one of the million fake ones. Lets see it.

I don't have a single signed ball but I do have this Mel Ott signature that has been in my family for about seventy years. When my dad was a teenager, ca. 1940, he waited outside the Polo Grounds after a game and got Ott to sign this. He then drew these incredible pictures of him- don't know if he traced them or drew them freehand- but the end result is this really cool display. He kept this sheet in a scrapbook for most of his life. Dad is still alive and well, playing tennis four times a week at the age of 84. And of course he was thrilled that the Giants won the World Series this past year.
Sorry I don't have a signed ball, but just wanted to share this Ott signature with the board (and you guys better not tell me it's a fake!). |
Definitely fake Barry, and I think that's actually Joe Jackson in the drawings:)
Seriously, that's a terrific piece -- priceless for you and your family. I like the way your dad captured Ott's high leg lift! Greg |
Very cool, Barry. I love that. (And, the fact that your dad is named "Morty" should elicit some comments also!)

Jim- do you think he might be Jewish?
|
Nah. Mel Ott was a Lutheran.

I think this is an excellent indication that your dad may have been a "Jewish player!" |
