What did you get for Christmas?

Christmas came early for me, in the form of this wonderful gift...

Dated August 1927 is this endearing TYPE 1 photograph of Lou Gehrig toying with Christy Walsh, Jr. From the Walsh Family Scrapbooks.

Early Christmas presents 2010

I received an awesome early Christmas present from my sister Ellen this year. When my grandmother passed away 23 years ago, my sister ended up inheriting all of the family momentos. She was looking through the family photo album recently and pulled out two pictures that she thought I would appreciate.

This photo is of my dad as a child (atop the giant prop baseball), HOF Tigers great Hank Greenberg and Nick Altrock circa 1936 at Briggs stadium. Photo by Scottie McGregor, the gentleman whom I was named after. Scottie was my grandfather Garner's best friend in Detroit when he was growing up and became an important sports photographer for the Detroit News and Detroit Free Press for many years. This afforded him the opportunity to become close friends with many of the top athletes and personalities of the day. I only had a chance to meet him once at his home in Detroit when I was very young, but I do remember him.

Definately one of the coolest Christmas presents that I ever received! :D

Merry Christmas to all of you on Net54!

How great is that?!

Really sweet of your Sister to do that for you Scott. My terrific Sis did the same type thing for me a few years back.

Well Scott, that's a gift you'll never forget... let's see St. Nick top that! ;)

My best Holiday wishes to you and yours as well.

Sincere regards, Jimmy

6 1934 goudeys

For Christmas the loving, wonderful, fantastic, amazing wife told me to spend some money on my "baseball stuff"
So I was lucky enough to find 6 signed 1934 Goudeys for my set being listed on ebay. They come out of the lot which sold in the Heritage Auction in October. I'm now up to 70/96 signed.

The Brandt is an upgrade. The rest are new additions.

You're a very lucky man Mark. If I had a wife like that, I'd still be married!

Merry Christmas to you my Friend.

My best, Jimmy

Struck out!

Scott, that is an amazing photograph.

Mark, I love those Goudeys, there's such character even in the pens that were used.

And Jimmy, I wouldn't worry too much -- you've got a great girlfriend!

A pulled tooth, abcessed teeth, and 60.00 lost at the casino, and no family here and my dad having passed last month. Next? ha.
