1894 Mayo Football N302
 

I have 4 mayo football cards from 1894--they are blank backs are the mayos all supposed to have a black backing---thanks in advance---Don

Hi Don,

As far as I am aware, any legitimate N302 Mayo's (or the baseball equivalents) all have black backs. I have never seen any real ones with anything different.

I also have been told by a advanced collector who has put together 2 sets of the Mayo Football that they could be production problems which he has seen in the past--They do have skinned cards but he felt these could be a production problem. Just trying to get some info here---thanks, Don

I have seen a few skinned N302's and own a Trenchard with the white back (skin). What you don't typically see is the uniform rounded corners that example that you posted has...they tend to layer rather than round.

Do have scans of the fronts?
