1940's El Paso Baseball Club Stock Certificates
Trying to find out some info on this stock certificate.

The El Paso Texans, of the Arizona - Texas League. The team was active 1937 through 1941. Jimmy Zinn was manager for 1937 and 1938. Ted Mayer managed in 1939. Elmer Williamson was manager in 1940 and 1941. Class D league ball the first 3 years, then Class C. The league disbanded with the entry of the United States in WW II. Baseball returned to El Paso in 1947, I would suspect that the stock certificate would be for the 1937 - 1941 entity.
Zinn pitched in the majors with the A's, Pirates, and Indians. In 1937 he had Bill Bevens on his staff. In 1939 they were a Yankees affiliate. And in 1940 an Indians affiliate. There's a "John Andreas Drive" in El Paso, you might try to contact a local library or historical society to find out about him. |
Great piece. El Paso does have a current team named the Diablos. I may be misatken, but I think a board member played there at one time.

I actually have a second one as well. I just found them really interesting. I was curious if the signatures were anyone important in baseball.
