Autographed Pre-War Card Show & Tell
Seems like its been a few months or more, so I'd like to see if anybody's got anything new or interesting to share. I'll get things started with one of my favorites -- a dual-signed T201 of Doyle and Meyers. You can actually see how the green ink Meyers used was smudged on the bottom of the card when it was folded over after being signed! One of my all-time favorites!
What have you go to share? <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/JCdlbFV4c13KTHQpTmmXa3Y2VLgy2RG_a1rPg51wK6M?feat=e mbedwebsite"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Ys7fw31kTDs/RxQJqntTj-I/AAAAAAAAB5I/T9ln45Mbk8g/s640/Doyle-Meyers%20T201%20Auto%20SGC%2040.jpg" height="577" width="640" /></a> |
Not a card but I like the opportunity of showing it off. :p

Technically not vintage in the true meaning but always thought it was a pretty cool card.

Picked this one up last month. Really was hoping to make a run at the 3 card lot in the Mile High Auction but new tires and possibly 5 of 6 I need to finish my 54 Bowman signed set happened.

Well I know Paul and many others are about to have a heart attack, but after two years of knowing about its existence, the owner (not me, but who also owns two of the Cobbs) has finally agreed for the card to be posted. Aside from me, there are a few others who knew about its existence... including someone who has been trying to secure it for auction for the last 18 months. Regardless, happy holidays...

Yikes...
I thought the Cobb in my last auction was sweet...that is incredible.:)
Do we know the origin of this item? Chris |
I don't know the full story - wish I did. I do know that the original owner was a gentleman named S.P. Eboda. The current owner purchased it at some point during the 1970s from the family as a Wagner card for his T-206 set. The significance of the signature was not really the motivating factor at that time.

Have I been in coma, it's April 1st. right? That's a joke, right?????:eek::eek:
If not, HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Wow!
Assuming the autograph is Wagner's, Jon you've just had the honor of breaking the biggest story of the year in our hobby. Greg |
If it were true, I can only imagine what Wagner thought/said when that card was presented to him to sign. Wow.
|
Boom!!
   :( :) :) :) |
UNREAL---if real!
|
Okey-dokey Jon. Thanks for the heads-up...............does anybody know the directions to Fort Knox???

The sig looked bad, but I trusted Jon. That'll learn me.

Sorry fellas. Matt, the signature is supposed to be good, though (from an index card (not in my collection)). At least JSA says it is good.
|
Jon had me right good -- especially with the "this'll make Paul squirm" line....

I don't collect autographs, but as I do collect Sam Rice cards, I'm glad to have one (WG7 with the red back) that is autographed.
