e107 plank
Has anyone seen the e107 plank on ebay for $6500?
|
yes

Seller
The person selling the card is a well respected board member. I had a few dealings with him on ebay years ago. He is a great guy. I'm sure he will chime in. I believe that card sold in REA either in 2008 or 2009. But I could be wrong.

yeah, why do you ask?
|
I know him well. He is very reliable and a longtime board member
|
I think that maybe he's trying to say that the price is too high?
|
I imagine Q**n appreciates the free advertising.

If it was a Bender I would be planning a bank heist !!!!!!!!!!!
|
I saw it too. Of the seven people responding, it appears that all seven have seen it on EBay.
Fascinating. |
I have not seen it, but perhaps that is because I have not looked.

I had not seen it before the post here. Perhaps a readjustment of tally is in order. :)

i've alerted the seller to this thread. maybe he'll be gracious enough to verify its existence here so we can all finally move on.

The card sold in the 2010 REA for $5288. Good luck to the seller getting $6500 so quickly, but I'm sure he thought it was worth a try...

I too had seen its listing, so you can add +1 for me, Darren. |
OK, let me get this straight...Jim is a no, Brian is a yes, and Q is a ..... maybe?
|
Nope, with the scan posted, I have now seen it.
|
The seller mainly collects 1989 Donruss in GAI holders so is probably selling to build up that collection a bit more.
|
I am confused (no surprise there), did you expect the seller to try to get less so quickly?
|
i received a note back from the seller with a little more info on the card, i'm posting the email with his permission. a little long-winded but good read:
Hi, Thanks for the link, I enjoyed the comments and speculations. To clarify, when my grandfather moved out of his PA home in the late 1980's we discovered a few dozens of these in his attic. They were all in very nice condition besides this Plank. He told me he was very meticulous and kept them inside his tin box, whereas his friends would pin them to walls or cut the borders paste them onto notebook. He collected by teams and had most of the Athletics, Giants, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Chicago. In the late 90's we sold all off the cards to invest in the tech boom and Enron stocks. The only card the dealer didn't want was the Plank because it's not as nice as the rest. My grandfather said that was because one night he left the Plank out and a mouse got to it and was chewing on the card, and he literally had to wrestle the card away from that god-awful mouse. The missing chunk is not from a pinhole, but from a mouse! The 'EM" is his initial to show the mouse who the card belongs to. Looking back who could've guessed the varmint actually did us a favor. Incredible and funny anecdote on the plank. |
I'm putting 2 and 2 together; no way that card sells for more than $500.
