A couple of my more favorite Mantle cards ever produced. So happy to finally land a Dan Dee card.

I'm not exactly a Mantle collector, but that Dan Dee is a fantastic card. How rare are they?

The Dan Dees will always be in demand by collectors. In addition to the difficulty in finding these cards in top grades, there is one major reason: Mickey Mantle. Mantle was not featured in the 1954 Topps set, which is the most popular set for that year, so collectors have to look elsewhere to satisfy their Mantle needs. Bowman produced a Mantle card, but the set--as a whole--wasn't spectacular. Red Heart Dog Food produced a very eye-appealing Mantle card, but not quite as appealing as the Dan Dee. In addition, the Dan Dee is far more scarce, which makes it extremely desirable. That leaves the Dan Dee as the most desirable Mantle card for 1954 and the entire set receives a boost from Mantle's popularity... hope that answers your question:) |
I have been looking for this in this condition for about a year now. Finally got it.

That's a really nice "1" Joe, Congrats!
|
Thanks! I thought so too. I have seen 1.5 and 2's look worse.
|
Major One
My favorite Musial card, outside the 52 Bowman. This card has been a long time coming in this grade.

Matt: Beautiful card |

My scanner made the bottom of this card look "weird" because of the inner sleeve... Thanks Daryle!

I got these 3 in today. These are the first regular issued Mantles I have ever owned.

I'm not sure where this is going, but I picked up a couple more '52 Topps Yankees...centering was nice so I pulled the trigger. Pretty nice for PSA 5's. Enjoy...

Brock
David---you are a Brock Collector ? Just cards or other stuff ? If you want one, I have an extra Brock bobble head that was given out as a promo at the newest stadium there a couple of years back. No charge if you want it.

Pat, Not sure what you paid for that Mantle, but that is a very nice card. Nice Eye.

1974 topps deckle edge proof manny sanguillen
Just arrived yesterday, hence the ebay scan. Had been looking for this proof card for a while; now just need the issued deckle version. Although I believe there is also a gray signature variation proof card...

I've gotta pick one of these up someday just to reminisce. |
Daryl, that is kind of the same thing that happened to me. I had that card years ago, and due to handling it didn't look very appealing and ended up in a common box. Now I finally had a chance to get a nice looking Sandberg RC at a decent price.

Thanks for showing |
I bought myself an early Christmas gift... After picking up the '51 Bowman Mantle from Daryle on the board a few weeks back, I figured that card needed its big brother:
