1936 World Wide Gum Questions

Hi. Does anyone have a short history of the 1936 WWG issue? Questions:
1. What are the toughest cards to find?
2. Why are some in street clothes?
3. Is it considered a mainstream set?
Any info general or strange would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Tony

I believe the Weintraub is considered the toughest card.

"mainstream" is a subjective term, but from what I have seen, because of the absence of a corresponding US version (as there was in 33 and 34) the 36 WWG issue seems to be more accepted. Gehrig's last card and one of Dimaggio's RCs probably help with that as well.

I am slowly working on a HOF set from 36WWG. Although not mainstream a little patience can be rewarding as they do turn up with regularity. I like them because of the unique poses. However not a fan of the street clothes ones.
