i saw that amazing homerun but never dreamed the ole boy would end up in the hall of fame.
best, barry |
i can remember playing whiffle-ball & listening to the game on radio...
YIKES! that was a half-century ago? |
Was ten years old. Watched the game after school on the old black-and-white. The expression "walk off home run" hadn't been coined yet. Can still see that left field wall and Berra's hang dog look in my mind's eye fifty years later. Didn't bother me. I was a Giants fan so I was rooting for the NL rep. In New York you picked one team and hated the other two (even if NYC was already by then a one team town).

Painful to Watch
I was nine and can vividly remember running homr the two blocks from school to watch the end of the game and my complete devastation when Terry served up that gopher. It was hard for a die-hard Yankee fan to take. I was even more disappointed that my idol at the time, Roger Maris, took an oh-fer that day and did nothing to help the team win. :(

A moment preserved in shrines throughout Pittsburgh. Visiting the remaining portion of the outfield wall is a real thrill.

What was his first card? 1957 Topps? I just got a nice SGC 63 Fleer Maz.
