Slightly OT: 1907 World Series
1 Attachment(s)
On this date, October 12, 103 years ago the Cubs won their first of two consecutive World Series pennants by defeating Detroit 2-0. Mordecai Brown twirled the shut-out, including striking out Ty Cobb twice, and throwing him out attempting to steal third. The slogan on Three Finger's Grignon postcard is appropriate, and I hope you enjoy.

"one of the best pitchers in the county"
Overall had a pretty good year in '07 and Ed Walsh and Doc White over on the South Side put up some good stats, too. Maybe Jerome didn't make a spelling error after all. |
Mike- as great as that postcard is, the note might even be better!
|
Barry--I couldn't agree more, and that's why I posted it. The easiest thing would be to show a T206--BORING. Better to have an interesting note, even if the "county" is bigger than Chicago!

Mike
Great postcard. Does it say the "three finger wonder"?
|
Jeremy--Yes it does, only the incomparable Jerome spells it "wunder," another nice touch for the postcard.
