Newsboys 1883 sign and pre 1901 AG tin

Any info on these. The newsboys sign has been professionaly restored:( It is a paperboard sign. The AG tin is from pre 1901. Just wondering if they had ties to the cards or not or if there was any info for them.

Newsboy and AG
Hi Andrew,
These are nice companion pieces to go with displaying your cards. I've been collecting this sort of thing, and enjoy these because they give some further information on the companies that distributed the cards. I have a marketing and sales background and believe that baseball cards were just one piece of promotional campaigns to sell tobacco products. The logos, tins, signs, wrappers and packs are all related to the marketing effort. The Newsboy piece seems like a good one. Fairly unusual. Allen & Ginter tin is fairly common and there are numerus versions of it available. I don't believe cards we ever enclosed in any of the AG tins. AG must have been a popular brand for many years, when you consider all the tins that still exist. Ron |
Ron - 100% correct on the tin. Same company - great conditioned piece, but no cards. All A&G cards came in slide and shell cigarette packs.

Except N43s, which came in clam shell boxes.
