Moe Berg question...
Actually, I guess this is more of a Red Sox question.
I'm in the middle of a portrait featuring Moe Berg in an away Red Sox jersey from '35. In doing my color research, I noticed that according to Marc Okkonen (as well as the Dressed to the Nines site from the HoF), those particular Sox jerseys had the familiar sans serif 'BOSTON' font on the chest for the first time, the same one that would come back in the late 30s and stay with the team until the late 60s. Now, the font in those resources for that particular year appears to be red, rather than that dark blue we're all familiar with. Normally, I wouldn't have much trouble trusting Okkonen, but for some reason, I seem to remember seeing a game used '35 Sox away jersey in an auction lot of some sort. I've looked through all of my catalogs, but have found nothing. Of course, I could be completely wrong about that too... Does anyone remember ever seeing one? Or does anyone have any insight? Here's an in-progress of the painting, as well as the swatch from Okkonen's book. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...dler/Berg1.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...dler/Berg2.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Boston1935.jpg Thanks all!
