Collins McCarthy Jackson in H & S

Does anyone else think that the SGC 50 Collins McCarthy Joe Jackson went really cheap?

I was thinking this card will go around $20,000.

I saw it in Valley Forge last week, and it was a spectacular piece.

Thoughts?

beautiful card

That is a beautiful card but $14000 still isn't a giveaway. I think even some cards like this could be affected by the economy. Just my opinion. regards

I'm pretty sure the seller was offered 16 or 17k at a show only a few months ago and said no, woops.

A number of the cards in H&S that were $2k+ cards did not do as well as I expected.

That's a very expensive heavy crease (or lack of).

I don't think the condition difference was a big reason for the price difference (the Legendary one was also creased, has writing, and even has a part of the card missing).

I wonder if the Legendary winner may have thought the postcard was pre-1900?

The winner may have, the listing was certainly ambiguous at best about an issue date.

In extended bidding I placed a 9500 bid and was out bid several minutes later and then I placed an 11K bid. Both bids were made as the clock was about to run out. Had I not bid the card would have sold for 9K plus the juice. Based on what this card had been selling for that was a great price. Based on the state of our economy I would say it was stepping up.

Cards will continue to get cheaper.

Boston Store

If the card had a Boston Store back, do you think it would've ended at the same price or higher?

It depends. If there was someone going for a Boston Store set then maybe. My answer would be "no" though. I think both would have the same value overall.
