1981 Topps Scratchoffs. A Misleading GYP

Recently, a friend of mine who has a hoard of these wonderful cards, and I, decided to play a game with these cards, and we couldn' t even get the "black coating" off, it just ripped the cards.

What should I do? Contact Topps? This really pissed me off. Any advice? Thanks. :p:p

In 1981 I needed one card to finish the set after buying numerous packs.

A dealer in Michigan (Thomas Ferenc) who I got my sets from had them advertised for like a quarter in either SCD or Sporting News.

I mailed him a quarter and he mailed me the card, but with a note next time to send him a stamp.

Those were the days.

I'd let those Topps people have it. First my 1987 gum melts in my mouth with a taste like charcoal and now this?! :D

Anyone know what the set of these is worth? I remember I read in SCD that they were a Topps "test" issue with limited distribution. When they turned up in our local 7-11 store I bought all I could, thinking I had hit a gold mine like the 1975 minis. It didn't occur to me that since I thought they were ugly, others might think so too. I know I have them stashed away somewhere, but they never did make me rich!

1981 scratch-offs!

Test issue? Rare?? lol......
These boxes were closed out so fast back in 1981. Rotman's in Worcester had pallets of cases!
We sold the boxes for 2.00 each, never made sets. We did sell a ton of them!
Big close-outs from those days include: Donruss Golf, Mash, Topps 5x7's, rookie year Bird basketball boxes! All these and more at a seemingly endless supply for 2.00 a box or a case for 20.00 each!
My favorite close-out: Fleers Here's Bo Derek bulk card sets! 10.00 a case!
