T206 PIEDMONT 460 factory 42 back color difference
 

Most of us are aware that almost all of the PIEDMONT 460 (Factory 42) backs are found with a much lighter shade of blue than the
PIEDMONT 150, 350 and 460 (Factory 25) Series backs.
It appears that American Litho. switched to a lighter shade of Blue ink in the final T206 print runs of these in the Spring of 1911. This
appears to be also true in the printing of the fronts. For example, every PIEDMONT 460 Factory 42 Blue portrait Hal Chase cards that
I have seen, are a lighter shade of Blue than the original 350 Series cards of Chase (that have a deep Blue color).

Furthermore, the use of this lighter Blue color appears to continue into the subsequent T-card issues with T206 fronts. And perhaps,
this may possibly explain the switch to Blue ink in the printing of the captions in the T213-2, T213-3, T214, and T215-2 issues.

Shows us some of your PIEDMONT 460 Factory 42 cards with Blue colored Fronts in order that we may have a better sampling of the varying shades of blue.

Thanks for posting this.
I don't even have a Factory 42 as I just haven't picked one up yet. I have, however, noticed different shade levels between many other sets with the same fronts as T206 too; D303, E106, T214, T215 etc... They all have some unique characteristics. regards

Here are four Piedmont fact. 42's and the Baker and Johnson backs are much lighter than the Willis and the Marquard. Not sure why this is, but Baker and Johnson both have blue background fronts.

i have one P42, downey batting(framed with my Pied Pack) and the light blue is obvious, as you've surmised.

The blue backgrounds on the fronts of your Baker and Johnson look lighter than the normal blue coloring on these cards.
This is certainly consistent with my initial observation here.

I have Baker with a PIEDMONT 460/42 back and I'll post my card later for a comparison.
