Ok...what am I missing?
Can anyone educate me regarding the collecting value of this piece? Was this hammer price based on baseball or pottery demand? This is waaaaaay beyond any comperable baseball mug.

The high bidder collects pottery, the underbidder collects baseball memorabilia. They both wanted it pretty badly. It also looks like out of the top 5 or 6 bidders on the mug only the first underbidder collects baseball stuff.

Geeez. That's not hard to figure out - It's rabbits playing baseball. So hard to find that I think it's even on The Bruce's collecting list.

Not Sure
I'm not sure, if this item was in out auction hall it would hammer no where near this price-Its not a attributed to a specific maker that I saw so the pottery collectors would normally not go for it????? Oh well, its ebay, mayve a few too many libations were had during bidding.

Even with a "hare" line crack
It certainly went high considering the condition with the "hare" line crack.

Mike...
Perhaps now is the time to put your Teddy Bear Baseball Mug up for sale on ebay. The market for "child-like animals playing baseball on a Mug" is HOT right now... |
Sorry, but the "Dogs playing Poker" franchise will never be matched. Especially when the item in question is on black velvet.

damn, As soon as Roach's Corner gets wind of this, look out for the Peter Cottontail signed pieces!
