Question for Pinback Experts

1 Attachment(s)
I am wondering about this Stan Musial Pin, and am hoping someone can clarify the time period from which it was manufactured...

1. Original to his playing career (appears to be a later image of him, so '50s or '60s?)

2. Made shortly after his playing career (but still vintage)

3. Modern reproduction or Fantasy Piece

4. Other

Thanks for any help you can provide,
Mark

Musial Pin

Hi Mark! I am very familiar with this Musial pin. It is definitely a pure fantasy pin (as opposed to a reproduction - there is no original, all are from modern times, I think they first showed up in the 1990s). Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Robert Lifson

Unfortunately, there isn't a reverse side image available (one of the reasons I am concerned...)

Hopefully, someone out there knows whether or not this variation is vintage to the '50s/'60s... thanks!

Thanks Rob and Mike...

Rob- I posted at the same time as you, and missed your reply (even though yours posted before mine). Thanks for clarifying this one beyond a doubt!

Mark

Hi Mark,
Both men are correct it is a fantasy item . You do have to be careful sometimes on this pin . I have seen them aged a bit to make them more off white. I also have seen a paper insert or back paper put in with them to try and make it look like it came from the 50s. But the bottom line its a much more modern piece. A nice pin to but in the 5-10 dollar range! Al

I agree with Rob D, not so much with Rob L.
