info on postcards
 

im starting to go in different direction with my collecting and im very interested in prewar postcards does anyone no where to start? my budget is limited so can anyone help me get pointed in the right direction?

If you want to get you "foot in the door" on the early postcard sets perhaps the most affordable & available of all the early sets is the 1907 Dietsche Detroit Tigers postcards. That is the first set I aquired when I began to have an interest in the various postcard sets.

I would recommend Dietsche postcards as well. The 1907 Tiger set is readily available and with the exception of Ty Cobb, readily affordable as well. The other 1907 Wolverines and HM Taylor are pretty attractive too.

One of the nice thing about postcards is that trimming doesn't seem to be as much of an issue.

If you want to add a couple of MLB team postcards to your early collection, both of the Chicago (AL) & (NL) teams from 1906 are pretty readily available as well.

Dietsche postcards
 

There are reprints of the Dietsche set. I'm not sure how hard they are to detect, so you may want to do some research first. Great starter set though, despite the difficult Cobb "fielding" pose.

The c1910 PC796 postcard set is another interesting one to start out with and will keep you busy for a long time. Many HOF'ers and much more reasonable than the Novelty Cutlery, Rose, etc. from the same era.
