9th Anniversary

It seems to have passed without notice, but a few days ago this forum celebrated it's 9th anniversary. It's been quite a ride.

Thanks to Everybody,

Elliot

Wasn't here for the whole thing, but do remember that it was worth it even with all the popups.

Peter_Spaeth 09-15-2010 05:54 AM

Banner ads were the downfall. ;)

autograf 09-15-2010 06:55 AM

+1 Peter..............

Congrats to Eliot, Bill C and Leon........great fraternity we have here. Fortunately we didn't have to get locked in a trunk or beaten with a paddle to join.

Howe’s Hunter 09-15-2010 07:38 AM

We didn't?

So why did Dan drive in from Lincoln and beat me with a paddle when I wanted to join?

What happens in Omaha stays in Omaha.

autograf 09-15-2010 09:10 AM

I guess things are mutual in Omaha..............

Congratulations!

What a wonderful group of collectors we have here on 54. In over 30 years in the hobby, I must say that the finest people I've had the pleasure of communicating with are here on my favorite site. Thanks to everyone for everything and God Bless you all-------- Bill

Elliot, thanks for bringing this up and thanks for getting this board started. You never got the credit you deserved but you are appreciated ;)

kkkkandp 09-15-2010 12:27 PM

Thank You!

I've been around since the bad old Full Count Board days and it has been a wild ride, a never-ending source of amazement/entertainment but always extremely educational.

The moderators have a thankless job and have all done it well.

I often wonder what has become of some of those old-time regulars (John Spencer, Mike Williams, Donald Johnson, etc).

Thanks to you Elliot for starting up the best vintage card site on the internet. I think next month marks my 6th year on Net54.

but i hear what you're saying...bruce mac, john wojak, etc. mr. spencer moved to england last i talked to him (5-6 years ago).

I've often wondered what happened to some of those guys that were prolific contributors back in the day. Also, some of the troublemakers such as the doctor.

Vintagecatcher 09-15-2010 04:32 PM

Thanks to all the moderators

Thanks to all the moderators!

I have enjoyed the ride since the original Full Count Board, and I have spent thousands of hours on the board.

Many thanks to all the moderators for their great job with the forums.

Someone has to email the doctor to encourage him to post again. Good times.

wining & dining hot models in his AMG-treated mercedes...or sharing his hobby knowledge with a bunch of overweight, balding, middle-aged ingrates

JasonL 09-15-2010 06:18 PM

I don't get it...

Who is this Eliot guy and why is everyone thanking him?

I thought Lichtman started this mess!
:rolleyes::p

Kenny Cole 09-15-2010 07:55 PM

Me too

I was also a member of the old Full Count board, both when it was civil and when it blew up.

E led us out of disaster and into something much better. Those of you who weren't around then have no idea how much this board is his board. Bill did a great job moderating after E chose to leave, and Leon has obviously picked it up and run with it since then, but E gave birth to this board. Thank you is completely inadequate, but is, at least, a start.

Best always,

Kenny

Griffins 09-16-2010 01:18 AM

Well said Kenny. I remember the day the full count board shut down for good, and Elliot stepped right up and set up 54. John seemed to point everyone towards Mike's yahoo board, but E prevailed and the yahoo board was closed pretty soon.
Big thanks to Bill, Leon and Elliot for all they do and have done.

pro9 09-16-2010 06:20 PM

Anthony, just to be clear, it wasn't a competition with Mike's board. Mike was and is a great guy, but the Yahoo board just didn't have a lot of functionality, even for it's day.

mark evans 09-16-2010 08:30 PM

I think the Board has been fortunate with Elliot, Bill and Leon (& staff). Good-hearted people with a love for the hobby.

rc4157 09-16-2010 08:55 PM

Thanks to all who have made this board a fantastic place to discuss and learn about vintage cards. I wasn't here in the beginning but when I needed some info., I was directed to Net54 and haven't been disappointed. Even with the occasional train wreck, it is a great site to visit.

Just proves a lot of good things come out of Canada
Thanks for starting it E. I believe Bill was moderator when I stumbled across N54

bcornell 09-17-2010 09:56 AM

Thanks for the kind words. I didn't realize the 9/13 anniversary had come & gone, so here's my own belated appreciation to Elliot & Leon for this forum. It wouldn't be the same hobby without it!

Bill

Leon 09-17-2010 10:00 AM

and thanks too....
