wow, sweet piece!
WOW indeed.
Thank you guys...
The asking price on eBay is very high as it is listed for advertising purposes only. The real bidding begins next week on the 23rd! Have a good day... Chris Imperial Sports Auctions |
Yikes!!! I stared at this one for a while. Terrific piece.
The "throw-in" auto Walsh single print T205 doesn't suck either.

Somewhere out there, T206collector is rolling on the floor having an aneurysm.

The green background is interesting, but it does not have the green ink which
Cobb often used. |

I'd rather have the Red Cobb just because of those accompanying pieces... wow!
The combination of the card, letter, and receipt surely constitutes one of the better lots of anything in this hobby.
Great pieces! I'm not really a big autograph collector so I won't be bidding on the lot...but that signature looks 100% real to me.
So who put the offer in ?
Amazing Lot, not really into autos but I would rather have that lot over most cards in that price range.

This was brought up on another board and I wanted to get the educated opinions of others here. How many total authentic, signed Cobb T206s are in existance? I guess the better question would be how many have we seen in total. It was thought that there was "a dozen or so" and my guess was because not many people thought to get these cards signed there would be less, maybe 6 in total. Any thoughts?

Total in Existence

So, in my research I've already identified basically a dozen or so credible sightings of different T206 cards signed by Cobb. As much as I'd love to believe that I've seen or heard of most of them, I would highly doubt it. I've never even been to a National and I don't have any close collector friends. This is an extremely beautiful piece, to be sure, and I would love -- emphasis on the word "love" -- to own it. But you do see them, with patience. |
well-played by paul with the diversion. i'm more convinced now that he'll own it after reading the thread. now we know where the magie money is going!

Thanks for the response. I knew Cobb was a decent signer but didnt realize that that many t206's would have been signed by him. This particular item is something I know I would love to have but its way out of my price range!
Can someone loan me $49,995.00 I wish to purchase this card and i am a little short!
Would you guys keep the piece all together like shown or have the card authenticated?
If I owned it

It would be cool if a TPG could just slab the whole thing.
I was just about to say the same thing at Matt....
How about you get the card slabbed, then take the card and letter and what have you and have them all framed and matted into one piece. Could be the most beautiful piece if done properly! (MAKE SURE THEY USE UV GLASS) |
Yeh, those Cobb autographs have to be plentiful. I don't have a card, but I do have a 3 page letter with envelope and a check. If I have those they can't be rare. I would like the signed card though.

SGC would make great framers...
They should encapsulate/frame memorabilia. They could make tamper-evident frames with the flip incorporated somewhere in the piece.
