Amazing restoration job, Kevin...

If it's possible to look better than the original, you've pulled it off (I really like the look of yours a bit more!) Tremendous job using all original components from the time period. It was well worth the extensive ebay searches and time you devoted. Perhaps a little luck involved as well... finding a base that was so close to the original (and remaining in such great shape!)

I'm also impressed with how quickly you completed this. That was fast! I am wondering how you attached the statue to the base. Also, did you do all the work and piece it together yourself, or take it to a specialist?

Either way... beautiful results, and many congrats!

Below are the original versions....

mark, did it myself. attached with threaded rod and a little plaster of paris. worked great. the fittings were the same for the lamp stem and used a tap and dye to fit the threaded rod. thanks for your help.

Does anyone have either of these lamps with the ring and globe intact?

ruth-gehrig 02-25-2012 05:37 AM

I don't think I've ever seen one with the upper globe still in tact. This portion must have been very fragile and susceptible to damage. I'd also love to see an example, if someone has one to post.

GaryPassamonte 02-25-2012 09:23 AM

I'm going to try and find a ring to fit mine and search for a globe that closely resembles the one illustrated in the catalog. This may take a while, but the end result should be worth it.

perezfan 02-25-2012 12:41 PM

Nice idea!

Good luck in the search, and be sure to post the end result. Very eager to see how this project turns out!

After 4 years of trying to find the right globe and reservoir for this lamp, I have settled on these. The reservoir was with the lamp when I got it. The globe was added by me. It is not quite like the original, but still nice.

I always thought those were really cool pieces. They look great with or without globe or base I think. Thanks for sharing guys.
