t202 Wiltse/Devlin Too Late for Devlin Joe Jackson sliding?
Was looking at an image of the t202 wiltse/devlin too late for devlin card. Is that joe jackson sliding into third? Forgive me if has already been covered. Looks like him.
|
Toby - as best I can tell there is no T202 with Devlin and Wiltse on the side panels of the same card. I assume you are referring to the "Too Late for Devlin" mid-panel which shows on 6 cards with the following combinations (sorry, I've got no opinion on if it is Joe Jax):
Ames/Meyers Crandall/Meyers Devlin (Giants)/Mathewson Devlin (Rustlers)/Mathewson Marquard/Meyers Meyers/Wiltse here is the image for discussion: http://www.vintagecardtraders.com/vi...2/t202-124.jpg |
t202
Hey Matt, that is the image. I had the wrong name combo.
|
I think it's safe to say
that every center panel in the T202 set contains Joe Jax' image. In one of the shots, he can be seen selling refreshments in the stands
|
I agree
You can tell by the way the ball is suspended above the runner that the game took place in 1911 when Jackson stole a base against a right-handed infielder. Pretty conclusive if you ask me...
BTW, Bigfish - this isn't meant to be a personal attack to a reasonable question. We just having some leftover fun from a previous post that you can search for and spend the next three days reading... Take Care, Geno |
I recognize the pattern of dust being kicked up. It is definitely Jackson.

Jason, I thought EXACTLY this when I read this thread this afternoon! However, since I have a reputation as a wise ass, I decided not to say anything. Glad you're filling the void! |
It is interesting how many T202s feature an unidentified runner from Cleveland ...
|
No worries, Jim...

I couldn't help it. Usually I am far more reserved and most of those things never make it to post, but I literally was unable to hold that one back. Maybe I can try out for a roster spot as your back-up! |
par for the course
Just asking a question boys. Actually would have had alittle respect for the posts that followed if you actually identified the player in the image. Instead we have people trying to earn the asshole of the month award. These type of responses devalue threads and discourage lurkers from posting. Just a question.

Must we bring religion into this, Peter? Really now. Shame on you.

You upset that he was only acknowledging you for a hole of the month as opposed to a hole of the year?

Damn!!! You got to separate yourself from the pack.

As a long time poster/contributer to the board and fellow Masshole., I don't blame Toby for his response.
I've had several top-notch dealings with him as well. Save the sarcasm for those more deserving, ie: myself. Thanks, Steve |
It depends...

However; if you are selling that card on the Bay, then it DEFINITELY is Jackson - make sure that you point out this fact several times in your listing to build up some hype for the card and maximize your profit. |
Perhaps
Unlike Wagner, Jackson was such a strong advocate of promoting tobacco to kids that he insisted on being on every card.
|
Funny thing is...
The more T202 cards that are believed to feature Joe Jackson, the less "valuable" they will all become as he starts to become more like a common...
Take Care, Geno |
Wasn't Devlin in the National League?
|
Don't let that get in your way
Peter --
Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Take Care, Geno |
Maybe it's not Devlin -- it's Lord.
|
Is there such an award?!

Sorry to bump this thread again but I found another picture of Joe Jackson sliding.
