We Didn't Start the Fire....Yada Yada Yada
On a slow Friday night with no Strassberg news/threads to report and since my wife didn't seem all that thrilled with Frank Nagy's near divorce.....nor the part about the $1,000 Wagner....nor the mistreatment of Burbicks collection....nor a new Feller find......and not even the fact that some Michigan dude was willing to pay above book value for Kellogg cards. Thus, because of my wife's indifference; I figured I would share this old 1971 article about baseball cards!
I copied it the best I could, but ended-up with three somewhat readable files..... LOVELY DAY... "Wall Street Journal Reports" titled: Baseball Cereal, Bubble Cards Becomes Collectors Items Thursday, August 12, 1971 <img src="http://img4.sellersourcebook.com/users/113197/bbnagy1.jpg"> <img src="http://img4.sellersourcebook.com/users/113197/bbnagy2.jpg"> <img src="http://img4.sellersourcebook.com/users/113197/bbnagy3.jpg"> |

Thanks Iggy....and we should all know it was Walt Corson they were speaking about, that was ill, and Nagy went to see to buy the collection. Here is what I believe is Walt Corson's personal "American Book of Checklists"- (Bray) 1950.....regards

First time I ever saw a copy of The American Book of Checklists-thanks for posting Leon!

Very nice checklist Leon (I'm jealous). I didn't realize it was Walt Corson's collection that was referenced in the article. I found this old Net54 post, which references a letter written by Nagy.
http://net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=84458 Goodness gracious! Walt must have had an incredible collection!!! Let me get this straight, Nagy purchased 400,000 cards in 1966 from Walt. Yet, check-out this quote in the letter by Nagy...."By the time I had the opportunity to get his collection many of his cards were sold..... " Lovely Day... |
