Seventy-five years ago today
Not sure where I am going with this but thought it should be acknowledged . . .
Today in baseball history: May 30, 1935 - Babe Ruth plays only the first inning of the opener of a doubleheader between Boston and Philadelphia at Baker Bowl‚ going 0-for-1. It is his final ML appearance. Last pitcher to face Ruth is one Jim Bivin, 17 years in the minors with a cup of coffee-and-a-refill with the Phils in '35. No cards that I could find. (Bivin's stats: http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl...ivinji01.shtml ) http://photos.imageevent.com/kawika_...2093686970.pdf |
Thanks for noting this anniversary, David. I wonder how many of today's players we'll...oops, THEY'll...be talking about 75 years from now?

May 30th, 2085....
"75 years ago today, Hall of Famer, St. Louis Cardinals 1st Baseman, Albert Pujols hits 3 homeruns, for the 4th time in his major league career, in a 9-1 Victory over the Cards' Long-time rival Chicago Cubs..."
Just a possibility! |
Gee...a perfect game, too...I sure picked the wrong week to make my point, didn't I!
