Are there baseball Stereoview cards?
 

I have recently started to collect these cards in various subjects.
I was wondering if there are baseball stereocards out there?
I have yet to see any in various dealer price lists or ebay.

YES... I have seen them more than a few times... including Ruth/Gehrig/etc.

I'll try to find some examples, and will post here if successful.

My friend has one that has an small image of Ruth batting above a small image of a guy jumping off a hill with a hat in his hand. I will try to get a picture from him if possible. That's the only one I've seen.

hard to find but they created them between the 1870s-1920s

There are a bunch picturing early generic baseballl scenes from the 1800s. Go to Leland's archives, and you'll see many examples. Here's one...

I have the only known photo of the early Buffalo National League stadium on a stereoview. If you look closely (better under magnification) there is a game going on which also makes it the earliest action photo I know of.

There is also a nice team image in the Legendary Auction I think.

Baseball in Germany stereoview
 

picked this up this past weekend and was going to post in "May Pickups" thread, but this seemed like a more appropriate place.

It also helps to look at generic views of cities that has teams you might be interested in. I've got a small group of probably 3-4 that are of some Kof C type group having a fair or parade. Behind the parading group is an outfield wall with ads. I think it's the huntington avenue grounds, but I'm not sure. If I can find them I'll scan them and post the scans.

I've picked up some really interesting stereoviews over the years. Photo shows (Just like a card show, but all old photos) are a great source. Every once in a while you even find an Old Judge or two.

Babe Ruth Stereo
 

I have had that Babe Ruth Stereocard (with cowboy)quite a few times, so it is not very difficult to find. The one I found last month was with the entire set. The set was about 10 different stereos (of boring subjectmatter or diagrams), and they were used for some type of eye exercises or for optical doctors to check your eyes with. The seller let me cherry pick the one card for $3.00!

This stereoview card was produced by Webster & Albee Publishers of Rochester, NY in the 1880s (as per card mount style, color and printing), reproducing an 1870s stereo view first issued by Bacon & Carnall. It is one of the earliest photographic image of blacks playing baseball.

This photograph, which was taken by famous Rochester photographer F.W. Bacon, depicts a game at the House of Refuge, an orphanage in Rochester, New York. c. 1874. The view is similar to other stereoviews attributed to Bacon, that depict a game between "Colored" and "White" youths at the same facility. Very rare close-up photos of this same baseball game were also issued in Carte-de-Visite form by the same photographer.

The game shown in this card above was a mixed game with both African American and Caucasian players seen on the field. Dark hats were used by the black team, while the jockey style caps were worn by the white boys. Interestingly, Charles R. Webster and Josephus Albee were a major publisher of pirated copies of views.

...Yes, pirated images, where one issuer allegedly "borrowed" the image from another and simply slapped its own name on the card and issued it!

1872 Wilton BBC Stereo
 

Here is an interesting stereoview I own. It is circa an 1872 image of Wilton BBC of Maine sporting plenty of early equipment and nice bib front jerseys.

The one below is a stereo I used to own and was considered the earliest known baseball stereoview from circa 1861/2 from the civil war (bat, ball and early fireman type baseball uniforms).
