I'm no expert
i'm not an expert, but i have a damned hard time trying to figure out what a trimmed card is. many times i see a card slabbed by sgc, beckett, etc with a number, then the card gets to psa then is deemed trimmed, i mean what is the difference? as far as i'm concerned, a trimmed card is a trimmed card no matter who grades it, psa, scg, bvg, bgs, cia!! maybe i'm looking at this the wrong way. now i know i'm not the only one this has happened to, i'm just trying to find a why!

Hi Larry-
I checked the link you provided, and to avoid that drama,I will say "no comment" :D But,here's a thought. If you were a major TPG,and someone sent in a very high grade card graded by your main rival ( another TPG who probably takes away alot of buisness from you),,,what better way to discredit your top competition than to reject something they called a "mint" card as being trimmed? Not saying this is the case-it's just something I wonder about. Sincerely,Clayton |
Greg, is not having much luck lately with the grading services.

Does SGC grade windmills?
|
Not if they've been altered :)

This was originally in an SGC 88 holder:

Maybe it's just the angle, but that upper right arm looks short! ;) Edited to add an image. |
Why did you allow PSA to crack the holder? SGC has a practice where if they don't immediately think the card will cross, they won't crack the original slab. I've sent in cards I wanted to cross that in their opinion would not meet the grade. So they didn't crack the original slab and reholder.

At one time I believe that it had to do with the angle of the cut and such, but that was before I quit believing that grading companies had any particular integrity or any more knowledge than any number of collectors I know. One day, when I choose to sell, I may be force to change my view, but it is not today.
