REA winnings (from the past)

As the title suggests, and since the auction is on most collectors'/members minds anyway, show a card or item that you previously "won" (paid more than anyone else) in one of their auctions. If you don't care to then you can just look at this nice, scarce (or might this be rare?) trade card. best regards and good luck to all!!

ps....if it was sold in an REA and you eventually got it, you can still post. All in fun.:)

Pretty mundane, but one of two Cobbs I got in the first REA auction that I participated in.

The W600 1909 advertising flier was part of a Sporting Life Hall of Fame collection I bought in last year's auction.

The circa 1905 National Biscuit Company retail display rack and tins was an anniversary present for my wife, who used to work for Nabisco/Lifesavers. It occupies a nice space in our family room.

I KNEW Leon had a source for all those quarters, just didn't realize they came from REA! ;)

FUBAR 05-01-2010 01:17 PM

It probably cost him $5 for that REA quarter

I got this one directly from an REA auction

I got these two on a tip from Rob L at REA

So as not to start a 14th REA thread....

We are now in the bonus period. If everybody could start getting their bids in, this baby could be over by 9:30!

Agreed... everyone bid NOW!

Here's the original Dick Perez painting used to make the Tony Perez Perez-Steele Card.

How's that for redundancy?

And REA's wonderfully fluffy write up...

Extremely colorful movie herald (3.5 x 5.5 inches) advertises the 1927 First National Pictures release Babe Comes Home, starring Babe Ruth. This two-page fold-over herald was produced and distributed as a promotional vehicle to advertise the film. It was not intended to be saved, so it is not surprising that very few have survived. This is one of the most attractive of all Babe Ruth movie-related advertising pieces. The herald features Ruth prominently on the cover. The two interior pages picture a large illustration of Ruth sliding and a scene from the film. The back cover of this example features ordering information for the movie heralds directed to movie theatres. When ordered, the heralds would have advertising for the theatre printed on the reverse. Movie heralds are rarely if ever found in this pristine condition. Movie posters and lobby cards from this film have sold for tens of thousands of dollars. The movie herald is much more affordable and, though smaller, is of the same or superior quality to the more expensive advertising materials related to this film. This is a tremendous Babe Ruth item and an outstanding high-grade example of the very best of all baseball movie heralds. Nr/Mt-Mt condition

I had been hunting a nice Traynor bat for my Pirates collection for years until last year's auction.

2007, 2008, and 2009 winnings respectively. Guess the 4th time is NOT the charm. Outbid on both cards I was going for this year - the 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings CDV, and the 1887 Wheeling imperial cabinet card with Sol White. (sigh)

I didn't win a thing this year, and my wallet thanks me. This is from year's past:
