Thank goodness they both have Free Shipping.

Orions father 04-16-2010 03:53 PM

The bidding history on the card Dave is talking about is "shilltastic".

Yeah, no chance any of those bids are real...

kcohen 04-16-2010 04:47 PM

Maybe an offer?

I'm thinking of asking Timis001 if he'll take $19,000,000.00

T206DK 04-16-2010 05:17 PM

Damn !!

Jim's listing is definitely more hilarious and scary than mine. I still am fond of the "Grandfather's collection" auctions though.

BlueDevil89 04-16-2010 06:10 PM

That T206 Speaker auction is unbelieveable. How many shill accounts does the guy have? Well, obviously at least five. That's just ridiculous.

teetwoohsix 04-17-2010 08:20 AM

$500.00+ for a fake raw Speaker :D,,,,,,,,that's too funny.Seriously though, this is one seller that ebay needs to ban.Buyers should know what they're buying, but the whole "granpa's attic" story, and the "I only list it as a reprint because I'm not sure if it is or not" is just bogus!!!

FUBAR 04-17-2010 10:57 AM

why would grandpa's attic only house reprints? Was grandpa some kinda cheapskate?

Now but he was a Grandpa at a very young age

uffda51 04-17-2010 11:09 AM

Why is an old reprint more valuable than a new reprint?:(

lharri3600 04-17-2010 11:11 AM

MAYBE THIS ONE RANKS PRETTY HIGH!!

FUBAR 04-17-2010 11:30 AM

not sure that one is a reprint.... Why BCCG....

I don't think that's a reprint, but that card in VG is probably a $150, so he's 8-10 time too high in price.

lharri3600 04-17-2010 11:48 AM

That's the point, 3 at best

FUBAR 04-17-2010 12:04 PM

i think 20 million is a little more excessive....

Some inexperienced collectors would pay a little extra for a t206 in that nice of shape....

Bender 7

Larry,

Did you notice that the BCCG 7 is defined as "Very Good or Better" on the label? I don't get what BCCG means by that grading system! What's a 10, EX+??

Ron

FUBAR 04-17-2010 01:37 PM

They grade crap a 6 and 7 to make you feel better about your cards!

Ron,

There have been several threads on BCCG here. Check the "Search" function.

Suffice it to say, it's not the same scale you are used to. Although Beckett's web site says they use a simplified 10 point scale, that's not true. (Not that I'm calling them a liar. They're just NOT telling the truth.) The BCCG scale is from 5 to 10.

I don't have it in front of me, but it's something like this:

5 - Poor or better
6 - Good or better
7 - Very Good or better
8 - Excellent or better
9 - Near Mint or better
10-Mint or Better

In theory, the word description matches up with what we're used to. The numbers don't.

They (Beckett) claim it is designed for the mass merchandisers (HSN), but it serves no useful purpose but to deceive the unsuspecting.

Top it off with Beckett handling both grading and auctioning of graded cards, and they go on my "Don't Trust" list. (Admittedly, that list seems to get a little longer every day.) They're certainly not at the top of the list, but they're on it.

Higbee's

Higbee's has been around for a long time. They should know better. Their credibility just went out the window.

teetwoohsix 04-17-2010 06:00 PM

That's a perfect example of using a BCCG grade to mislead a novice collector.I guess his "moral compass" is broken...........

tbob 04-17-2010 10:42 PM

Does BCCG grade reprint cards? I know a couple of services do but they usually list a card as a reprint on their slab tag.
What's odd is that sometimes you will find BCCG 8s, 9s and 10s which are steals because they are in nice shape and everyone is scared of the grading service. Sometimes....
