REA Catalog

Mine arrived on Friday via UPS. Although the items up for auction are waaaay out of my league, it's still a pleasure to browse through it. Great reference source too.

No magnet this year (sigh), but love the new catalog smell!

*LOL*

Yeah mine came yesterday, and I immediately opened it and fanned the pages in front of my face, savoring the aroma! Couldn't get my 16 YO son to do so though.

As much as I love and use the internet, and very comfortable with it, it is SOOO much better and easier to flip through a printed catalog. In a few minutes I noticed a few items that interested me and I hadn't seen online yet, quickly adding them to my watchlist.

barrysloate 04-10-2010 07:46 AM

I got mine yesterday, and of course I agree it is simply beautiful. But as I told Rob, it is getting larger with each year and is now becoming a bit unwieldy. Just carrying it and flipping through the pages is work. I think if you lift it over your head fifty times in succession you will get your minimum daily exercise.:)

Robextend 04-10-2010 08:09 AM

I thought I was the only sick one for liking the new catalog aroma. I agree, the items are a bit out of my league, but it is an amazing book to flip through.

GrayGhost 04-10-2010 08:26 AM

The aroma was noticeable too. For me, simply a great reference, and fantastic collectible in its own right. Cant wait to look through it when I get out of work later. The little bit I saw looked amazing. Great stuff and an incredible quality catalog.

ktwilli71 04-10-2010 08:42 AM

No catalog yet !

Didnt get mine last year either.:(

T206Collector 04-10-2010 09:22 AM

It is an awesome catalog, but I agree it is unwieldly. I would go though it much more easily if it had (a) a spiral binding; and (b) tabs by section.

slidekellyslide 04-10-2010 10:03 AM

I see the catalog distribution has an East Coast bias!

bijoem 04-10-2010 10:52 AM

I received the catalog.

Only briefly went through it so far (will enjoy spending a good amount of time turning the pages).

Already - I noticed a few lots that I did not notice online... and put in some more bids.

REA's Catalog Nickname!?!?

All in favor of the Nickname, "LOG" for REA's Tree Sliver, Raise your cyber hand............

prestigecollectibles 04-10-2010 03:39 PM

Didn't get mine yet, can anyone post the aroma online?

It ships UPS Ground from the printer in Schenectady, NY, so the closer you are to the printer the sooner it would be expected to arrive.

Griffins 04-12-2010 10:26 AM

nothing here on the west coast.
Hopefully next year it will be available as a padcast, and can be downloaded right away.

RichR 04-12-2010 11:21 AM

My wife asked me if someone had mailed me a brick or two :)

Barfvader 04-12-2010 01:01 PM

UPS pulled in today and I couldn't figure out why as I haven't ordered anything but when he handed me the box I knew what it was.

I really appreciate REA for continuing to send these to me as I have never bid and more then likely will never be able to but I sure enjoy this just like the old Sears Wish Book we used to get while growing up. :)

kcohen 04-12-2010 03:15 PM

Ouch!

Mine arrived today (DC area). Pulled a groin muscle getting into the house.

CTDean 04-12-2010 04:13 PM

Received mine today on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Thanks Rob! Going through the catalog is almost as much fun as plucking cards from your album in the early 1980's.

I e-mailed an auction house with an important question regarding a lot of theirs. No response. I e-mailed again. Again, nothing. So I didn't bid on that, or the other two items I was looking at, nor will I again.

Not getting my catalog on Friday, I e-mailed them and they have sent me three e-mails in response AND I received my catalog today (via the home, even though I use my P.O, which they said they sent there as well) and as usual, an incredible auction that I have only started to glance through.

White Borders 04-12-2010 05:12 PM

Maybe an alligator ate it?! :)

Got mine in Chicago today. Can't wait to look it over. Looks like I will be calling in sick to work tomorrow!

benchod 04-12-2010 08:02 PM

Nothing here yet :(

wrapperguy 04-12-2010 08:55 PM

Chicago?

Some of my Chicago brethren got theirs, but not me. REA must know who can afford these items and sends to them first. Good luck to all!

Hmmm...South Central Kansas, but not Eastern Nebraska.

Of course for all I know it might be hidden in my yard somewhere. :D

mart8081 04-13-2010 04:26 AM

I have asked them if they are willing to send a copy to England (told them I would pay the postage) - no reply as yet.:(

EDIT - REA contacted me and they have agreed to send to a friend at a US address - they will then forward to me!

frankb22 04-13-2010 07:10 AM

Las Vegas - nothing yet

Rob D. 04-13-2010 07:34 AM

I didn't even open the UPS shipping box but rather just forwarded it to Beckett. Will post the grade when I get it back.

Anthony S. 04-14-2010 02:08 PM

Pony Express just made it to the mighty Pacific.

JP 04-14-2010 02:10 PM

Yup, mine also arrived as well....now that Calfironia's got it, how long for Hawaii?

Anthony S. 04-14-2010 02:19 PM

Could be a while. The drivers usually drown by the time the trucks reach The Farallones.

Interesting spelling of California. A double dog letter switch. Good one!

How long for Hawaii? Just checked the mail. Couple of bills, AARP newsletter, usual junk mail. No REA catalog. Maybe tomorrow.

uffda51 04-14-2010 04:38 PM

Got mine today, in California. Smells good.

T206DK 04-14-2010 04:41 PM

never got my catalog :(

Kawika 04-14-2010 04:42 PM

Oh, OK. Just re-read the thread. It's being delivered by UPS, not USPS. There's still hope then; our UPS guy makes his rounds in the late afternoon.

My wife doesn't like the smell...I opened mine from it's UPS crypt last night and immediately she mentioned the smell. I had to retreat to another room to peruse the catalog.

Rich Klein 04-14-2010 06:55 PM

Thnks REA...I walked out my front door yesterday...which I rarely use...to find a 2nd REA auction catalog under my door mat...now I have a pair of dumbells!

JP 04-14-2010 09:50 PM

How did it fit UNDER your doormat? You must have an abridged version, because the one I got is bigger than my door.

E93 04-15-2010 12:44 AM

Still no catalog in Oregon. :(

ullmandds 04-15-2010 05:50 AM
