Story on Mike Cuellar's last days
 

This is posted on the memorabilia side but I thought it fitting to be on the main page too. I remember Mike pitching when I was growing up. Very sad news. (thanks to the original poster too)......

this is very sad to me. I grew up with in walking distance from Mamorial Stadium and have fond memories of watching Mike pitch. I was 5 in 1970 and my Dad took me to the stadium almost every weekend the Birds were in town.

Mike was one of the pitchers on Baltimore that had 4 20 game winners-I think in 1971.

I consider myself very lucky to have enjoyed Mike and the rest of the Baltimore team growing up in the 70s and 80s. Great memories.

I saw Mike pitch in his last 2 yrs in Houston w/ some BAD Astro teams, going 8-11 in 1968 w/ a 2.74 ERA!

You just knew he had the stuff to be a winner--and he got that chance from '69 on when traded to the Orioles for Curt "Boom or Bust" Blefary, whose main claim to fame in Houston was when he hit a HR in the Astrodome on "Foamer Night" w/ the red light on that meant FREE BEER for everybody in the park!!
