ullmandds 04-01-2010 02:44 PM

Holy SH$T...that's quite an auction!!!

sgbernard 04-01-2010 02:45 PM

Unglaublich.

barrysloate 04-01-2010 02:55 PM

Lots of great stuff!

botn 04-01-2010 02:58 PM

Impressive, to say the least. I must get over what it is that I will not win asap.

chaddurbin 04-01-2010 03:00 PM

pretty sexay...at least scarlett johansson hot!

edit: over/under on the extended bidding period lasting well into monday with the incredible number of goodies?

deadballera 04-01-2010 03:00 PM

very impressive as usual. Can't wait to receive the catalog.

calvindog 04-01-2010 03:10 PM

Bittersweet day for me. I can't have everything or even most everything I want. And I've already received my first outbid notice.

Anthony S. 04-01-2010 03:16 PM

First of all, wow.

Secondly, I sent them an email maybe 20 minutes ago pointing out that the year given for a couple of Obaks was incorrect and they've already made the correction. Top notch.

chaddurbin 04-01-2010 03:18 PM

i've placed initial bids on 587 lots...if i go 1/587 i'll be happy

Anthony S. 04-01-2010 03:19 PM

I just outbid Quan on 423 lots.

calvindog 04-01-2010 03:24 PM

I just outbid Quan on 164 lots.

FUBAR 04-01-2010 03:24 PM

I think every single card on my want list is in this auction.. unreal stuff...

The Ruth bat... to me, that would be the dream item.... absolutely stunning!

come on lottery gods come on!!!!!!

chaddurbin 04-01-2010 03:26 PM

anthony i'm getting outbid notice emails popping up left and right...at least i can pretend they're important work emails!

rob is really making a mockery of the pop report...he seemingly has multiples of every drool-inducing cards in the hobby.

barrysloate 04-01-2010 03:38 PM

He's really taking bids already. I think he's like ten days early!

base_ball 04-01-2010 03:43 PM

One of my favorite pastimes is to bid on T206 Wagners early and take a screen shot that says I am the high bidder!

If I collect all 25 I get to meet the Aga Khan.

REA is up!

I was thinking we had to wait for the catalogs, always look forward to this auction.

Jimmy

Rich Klein 04-01-2010 04:29 PM

Can not wait for the catalog

Glad Rob realizes the value of making sure everyone who wants a catalog can get it (Examples to the contrary Bill Goodwin, SCP, Heritage, etc)

Regards
Rich

Goodwin gives out free catalogs as far as I know... now, Hunt and Heritage do indeed charge for theirs, which I can't say I understand; the one time I got Heritage to ship me a comped catalog, I bought a $6k card that I didn't see when browsing their web site and only saw in the catalog.

As a possible consignor in the future, I'm glad Rob realizes the value of not banning aggressive bidders who always pay within a day or two after the auction ends (Examples to the contrary ... oh, never mind.)

This stuff represents the cream of the crop, and is a great reference and collectible in itself. I am looking forward to my catalog also.

Me, Sheff and all the folks I've chased away.

packs 04-01-2010 05:41 PM

That California League card is crazy. $100,000 opening bid? Any guesses on what it sells for? More than the Wagner?

B O'Brien 04-01-2010 05:51 PM

Dang, that is some nasty card porn for us credit card shoppers!
Bob

asoriano 04-01-2010 05:54 PM

Incredible.

joeadcock 04-01-2010 06:31 PM

Thanks for the heads up Jeff.

Frank

paul 04-01-2010 06:36 PM

I think it's pretty amusing that the Wagner doesn't even have the highest opening bid among baseball cards.

barrysloate 04-01-2010 06:45 PM

The Wagner will still sell for far more than the N172 Doyle.

wolterse 04-01-2010 06:46 PM

Rea

Lot 1594 will make a great addition to my tobacco card collection...I'm just wondering where (and how) to display it. :p

Wesley 04-01-2010 06:59 PM

No bid yet on Barack Obama's old Jeep Cherokee.

scottglevy 04-01-2010 07:02 PM

T207s ?!?!?!

Im simply speechless by the quality of T207s in this auction. And that says a LOT !!

-Scott

Pup6913 04-01-2010 07:06 PM

I just spent about 1 hour glancing and have over $80K in cards in the watchlist. Man the wife is going to be pissed when she sees all what I bid on.

Scott I agree I looked at the t207's and they are some of the best I have ever seen in one area at a time. A magnificent auction to say the least.

Bill Stone 04-01-2010 07:17 PM

I love the T210 Stengel but why did PSA label it "Stengal" when his name is clearly spelled Stengel on the front of the card ? I was wondering --would PSA correct the label?

Steve D 04-01-2010 07:27 PM

Let's see:

4 T206 StL Demmitts
5 T206 StL O'Haras
5 T206 Magie errors
4 T206 Planks
1 T206 Wagner

Not to mention EVERYTHING else!!!!!

I need a sugar mama!!!!!!!!!!

Also, that's 5! T206 Planks up for auction within the next month (Heritage has one also)

Steve

bcbgcbrcb 04-01-2010 07:28 PM

Bill:

I'm sure that they will if you pay the reholdering fee.............

barrysloate 04-01-2010 07:29 PM

There are A LOT of T206's in this auction. You would think something might fall through the cracks but I doubt it.

paul 04-01-2010 07:30 PM

Hey, I was looking for an original Creighton photo and the Merkle ball. Glad I could find them both in one place.

LEIDEMEG 04-01-2010 07:45 PM

T206 lot with cy young miscut lot 284

I have seen and owned a few T206 miscuts in my day... but that one takes the cake! What a strange card.

Plank

The PSA authentic Plank, with the Sweet Caporal 150 back is one of the nicest Plank's I have ever seen.

It never fails, whenever a nice looking T204 Plank or Mordecai Brown come up for auction, they are always part of the whole set, which I won't be able to afford.

I get a free catalog from Hunts every month.

That Plank is mine....I didn't plan on flipping it so quickly, but I can't resist Rob Lifson's charm. Our arrangement is too good to pass up!

Matt; I KNOW Bill for many many years; we have a lot of mutual friends; and for whatever reason I've never been on his mailing list. And yet; he's one of the nicest people in person I've ever met in the hobby. Couple of years ago; I ended up setting up at the National next to him; and because of the very short notice; he locked up all the "valuable cards" I had at the table each night. And made sure everytning was perfect. Nice man; just can't get the freakin catalogs :)

Rich

Edited to say -- Bill PM'd me this morning and promised I would be receiving all his catalogs in the future :)

The best part about the card is it has no name or other part of a card on it. Could be a very neat single.

mrvster 04-01-2010 08:29 PM

t206 young miscut

Whoever wins that lot with the young miscut, i want it!!

please email me!!!

George/Andrew

Wow...they should have listed that as a single lot.
