1921 Exhibits question
Of the 65 card set, only four have white borders and the rest are borderless. Anyone know the reason for this discrepancy:

Just checked my '21 boxers set, and breaks down as:
No border: 43 Border: 15 Until Adam comes along with a better reason, I'm going with: "They're penny Exhibit cards." I can just image the head of Ex. Sup. Co. saying to the art director: "I don't give a #$^(&^ about cropping, just get them done, so I can get them in the ^&$%@* machines." |
Jeff, all of the 1921-24 Exhibit baseball sets had a mix of cards with and without borders (although most are without borders).
The reason? I honestly have no idea. I'm not sure which I like better, I tend to want to say the ones with the border but then I like full-bleed cards as well. |
Also, I count 16 with borders in the 1921 Exhibit baseball set, not 5.
16 also happens to be 1/4 of the set of 64 too (interesting) |
PS Rhett, you taunt me with that avatar...:)

Jeff, that's why it's there!
On a side note, the guy I bought it from found me through my website and he literally found it in his wall when he was renovating his home. -Rhett |
No idea; perhaps it had something to do w/the sheet printing--until we see a full sheet (right...) we'll never know.
|
By the way, I'm not sure if there is a better Ruth image than the 21 Exhibit (above).
|
I count 16 white borders in my set as well.
