Who has the best collection?

Simple question, complicated answer. But if you had to pick one active collection that you consider to be the best of the best from what you've seen (in person, online, in books, whatever), who's collection would that be?

Just looking for some different opinions, and yes I realize that there's many impressive private/unknown collections out there.

Jim VB 03-26-2010 08:30 AM

You looking for just one collection, or should we list the Top 100?

Edited to add a smiley: :D

barrysloate 03-26-2010 08:32 AM

Oh boy, here we go again.

Leon 03-26-2010 08:41 AM

Robextend 03-26-2010 08:43 AM

Isn't that where they shot Melrose Place?

Jim VB 03-26-2010 08:44 AM

NEVER... has a thread gone off the rails quite so quickly.

Sorry Jeff. My bad.

Ladder7 03-26-2010 08:45 AM

That town is a magnet for an F5.

barrysloate 03-26-2010 08:45 AM

Robextend 03-26-2010 08:49 AM

That is a pretty good looking dog.

Thanks Barry!! And just for you....

"Oh that Michael, I hate him, he's just so smug."

jbbama 03-26-2010 08:51 AM

I'll go ahead and say what everyone else is thinking.............no this is not in Alabama. (maybe Mississippi) kidding.............:D

JB

barrysloate 03-26-2010 08:51 AM

I don't recognize that line. Should I?

Robextend 03-26-2010 08:52 AM

Yes you certainly should.

Remember Jerry took the lie detector to try and prove he didn't watch the show? At the end when the 4 of them are sitting and watching the opening he says that...

Tougher one, but you are expected to get 'em all.

barrysloate 03-26-2010 08:55 AM

You're absolutely right Rob, and I remember it now. That's the episode where George's girlfriend was bald.

guess my question was too Dorskiny? my bad!

Leon 03-26-2010 09:01 AM

Jeff....best collections

On a serious note there are 3 board members, who don't post a lot, that I personally think have 3 of the top collections in the country. But I won't name them out of respect for their privacy. Two are west coast and one is east coast. And if we are talking memorabilia then I think one of our members would be in the top three also, but again, I won't name names.

ullmandds 03-26-2010 09:01 AM

id vote for net54...the collectors collectively on this site have the best collection by far!

calvindog 03-26-2010 09:09 AM

As I saw the picture of Scott Elkins' trailer home above, I happened to come across what he posted on his website yesterday. It is almost too funny for words:

"BTW - I do know for a FACT that one "Jewish" vintage card dealer in CA is a PAEDOPHILE and BRAGS about it on the phone! Again, it seems that these people from the Synagogue of Satan, like Jeffrey Lichtman, simply like to blame others for what THEY DO!"

"I keep saying, the depravity of the jew knows no bounds. Don’t doubt for a moment that non-jews can not, or will not get infected by this virus of filth, because they do. However, it’s the overwhelming majority of jews involved in these crimes that highlights where the root of it all really resides. One glaring example is the North American Man Boy Love Association or NAMBLA which is nothing more than a jew organization that pushes pedophilia. This definitely goes further, because even House Speaker (wench) Nancy Pelosi, marched in a gay parade along side of NAMBLA, and jews like Allen Ginsberg fervently support this disgusting manifestation of jewish beliefs."

Bicem 03-26-2010 09:16 AM

for real? wow.

barrysloate 03-26-2010 09:19 AM

Jeff- he doesn't say very nice things about me either. Take a look.

Aah! We heard that same stuff all the time in Catholic Schools!

Whilst competitive card and memorabilia collecting apparently drives some to collect, we suspect this post is heading to the same trash heap as yesterdays.

teetwoohsix 03-26-2010 09:34 AM

there you go

Fixed it for you.

Like Leon I can think of a couple of collections that are awe inspiring both in their breadth and depth as well as the passion the collectors have for them. The owners are modest and private and I respect that.

One collection I would love to see or know more about the contents is the Fritsch collection. I believe it would be in the discussion, but I have not heard/read much about the exact contents.

wonkaticket 03-26-2010 10:57 AM

I was going to look at this one collection but there was a 10k cover charge...so I passed. :)

I thought it was $10k per item - $10k for the whole collection would be a bargain.

You and John are in for a sad comeuppance. First off, the offer was made to David only. He may have a sliding fee scale for the rest of us. Second, you weren't being charged for LOOKING at his collection. He was charging you to photograph and scan his things.

"a rabid anti-dentite"

drdduet 03-26-2010 02:12 PM

And Frank,

In that wedding photo, isn't that the dog who bit Elaine at the opticians?

howard38 03-26-2010 02:33 PM

So, what's the problem with NAMBLA anyway?
